Michael Stevens wasn't good enough to get a game.

Brent Guerra wasn't good enough to crack the first 18 (at Port or St Kilda).

A lot of player "just wanted to go home" didn't they!!!!!

I seem to remember M Stevens getting a game with another club -maybe Carlton? Think he's still on their list.

Guerra is still playing for Hawthorn and given a chance I think he will be good.

That's my point - a lot of players with potential have fallen by the wayside. Due to their lack of ability or poor coaching? Add to that the number of good players who just wanted to go home and the question Marks start appearing.

Mate, all clubs have players leave for greener pastures.K.Johnson,T.Stenglein,do you think they left because of poor coaching?

Guerra went to a strong side (St.Kilda),now finds himself recycled at Hawthorn(a struggling unit looking for anyonewho might make their 22),M.Stevens went to the Kangaroos with his brother and was delisted 1 year later.

Laird a better coach at Port than Mark Williams?? LMAO Buddy open the other eye!!

Booney - don't believe me then - ask your players.

REB - I'm glad you look at it that way. We want to keep him.

What am I going to do mate, roll up at a training session and ask some of the boys if they dont like Choco? LOL

Roy Laird inherited a quality side which would have, and will, perform at a high standard.Over the last few years Marg Angove could have taken that unit to a flag.

I can think of only two players who left because they wanted to go home - Josh Carr and Nick Stevens.

Schofield left because he wanted a two year contract and the club only offered him a one year deal.

Marg was our second pick if Lairdy wasn't available.

Hey doggies4eva you havent made one ounce of sense in any comment you've made on this thread. To me you're just trying to stir Port supporters, and gloat in Centrals recent success. Mark Williams played a huge part in Port winning the premiership 2 years ago, his ability to develop receycled players is second to none (Bishop, not so much now but a couple of years ago.....Paxman......Montgomery). Then theres the way he turned Carr and Nick Stevens into quality midfielders. The facts are that players who get drafted to move interstate have a tendency to want to move back to their home state and why shouldnt they....its only common sense that players are going to want to return to their home state where they have family and friends. Other examples include Headland (left Brisbane at the peak of their form), Nick Davis, Jeff Farmer, Scott Thompson.

The Power side at the moment has lost a lot of experience but thats the way it goes. I dont think any of it can be attributed to Williams, who its obvious doesnt put up with disruptive influences (refer Heuskes as well as Guerra). Guerra played some good games for Port and then St Kilda but has had numerous years to establish himself. Hes played one good game for the Hawkes but i wouldnt be betting on him sustaining it in the long term.

The reality is that Port are in a rebuilding phase. Theyre trying to develop young players and fine tune their game plan. Its certainly not an uncommon occurrence for a successful club to be pegged back by the very nature of the AFL's socialist policies - look at Brisbane last year, Hawkes over the last 5 years. Its almost impossible for clubs to remain dominant for more than 4 or 5 years.

After yesterdays effort I feel Neil Daniher will be the first coach to be given his marching orders. Melbourne looked good against the Doggies in the first half but talk about falling into a hole. I watched the game after listening to the Catters and the roos game and I felt Melbourne has no heart Neil Daniher has been at Melbourne too long it is a matter of player respect and they seem not to respect Neil Daniher.
