Low and Slow is very good, pricey and you'll need a lay down after.

The Birk is a good option, safe as houses there. The British is back open and I've had two good meals there. The Lighthouse is a great venue ( particularly upstairs on the balcony ) but the food is basic. The Admiral is full gluten free if you have anyone with dietary requirements and pretty good.

Birk
British
Lighthouse
Admiral

Low and Slow excluded because I see this as a real treat not so much a go to.

Agree with all comments surrounding the L&S, if you go there though, tell them it's for someone's birthday.

I must admit that I thought it was a bit of a con with the way they presented the "all you can eat" slogan, they were right through, none of us had room left to eat any more, I couldn't believe that one of our group selected the corn as a side.

Thanks for the replies, I think we'll wander down and have a look at the British, Lighthouse and Admiral. We've been to the Birk before so will look at somewhere new (to us). Thanks again for the input.

I tried to stop laughing when I read the menu.

$32 for pasta, $30 for pizza, $68 for a 400g black angus, lamb rump $40 or set menu for $95 per person.

I can see what they've done by going with a point of difference to the standard pub fare ( bar the Admiral with the gluten free menu ) but I'm not sure the average Port punter is on the lookout for $68 steaks.

Then straight to the British?

Ended up having to change my custody arrangements due to my inability to stop in there for two on the way home.

Made the trip to Estia's the other night. Their Mousaka is absolutely sensational, I don't know how much the KG whiting was but I assume it was quite pricey, I'll steer clear of that in the future, wasn't terrible but wasn't spectacular like most of their dishes are.

Their staff are great, looking through the wine list and the waiter offered a suggestion that he was gauranteeing would hit the spot, he then stood by waiting for our approval once we had a taste, it was quite funny as it didn't click what he was waiting for intially, I had to ask.

They recommend to share three dishes between two, I'm not sure wheere they come up with that idea as their servings are more than generous.

Friends went there last Friday night

Food OK but overpriced

They were saying the place would only do table service for drinks but stopped because they couldn't keep up
I would have thought that would be bloody obvious especially considering the owners previous business was in cutting down the labour costs

Been a couple of times.
Go the ‘Feed Me’ menu if you get a choice.
Each time I have been it has been absolute quality food and service.

I went there last Thursday, very impressive set up, the interior is as good as any in Adelaide.
The food is pricey but my steak was cooked to my liking, I will go again with a group to make a day of it but probably wouldn’t with 2.
The Tomahawks on display as you walk in look sensational.
