On Friday I had my total knee replacement, just got home after weekend in hospital. Saturday was pretty bad pain wise but got on top of the meds and got the knee moving, now set up at home with walking frame and stick. New best friends seem to be the ice machine, drugs, couch & netflix.

Thanks to Gadj & Kahuna for the advice, been very helpful in setting expectations and hints/tips. Despite the pain the knee already feels much better structurally than before. Doc was happy with the surgery, despite it being one of the worst ones he has seen, couldn't get the screws and staples out from my previous ACL reco but he believes it wont impact me going forward.

That's great to hear Dutchy.

I'm assuming he couldn't get that stuff out because the bone had grown over the staples and screws?

Keep up the rehab and enjoy the rest!

Not sure, he said he would try to remove if possible but think it was a bit tricky.

Proud Dad moment.
Eldest daughter did her knee in Sept 2024. No sport for 12 months, she stayed resilient. Fast forward to the present, she’s had a full pre season for football (as well as taking up surf boat racing). She’s only 15 but has been picked to play senior football in a trial game at Richmond Oval Sunday.

Ok, so she got a bit lost in the first half of seniors but looked better after halftime. She’s been thrown forward which is extremely different for her as she’s played back her whole life. Got asked to play a second trial in the seniors, kicked 5 points
Must’ve shown enough as she’s been selected to make her senior debut in the season opener on Saturday. Mr & Mrs Spargo have been invited into the rooms pre game for guernsey presentation. I’m predicting a rare dust storm which may cause some watery eyes…
