I only just realised Southern cross merged with C7 a month ago.Lightning McQueen wrote:Booney wrote:Jason Bennett cut by Channel 7.

I think he's a really good caller. So that makes sense for 7 to give him the flick.
He was doing the VFL calls wasn't he?

I'll go out on a limb, a lot of what Channel 7 does regarding the AFL is f*cking awful.
They're lucky the game sells itself, because they do it zero favours.

I liked him until the Legends game, acted like a f****** knobhead that night and has been a consistent performer since then.
Despite my dislike for Hughesy, what Gorringe done was wrong and cowardice, the Legends game should be reserved for past players, the word "influencer" shits me to tears.
I remember years ago Lleyton Hewitt and Guy Sebastian played in a slowdown, the Port players were told they weren't allowed to tackle either of them, one of them took the piss and tried to make the opposition look stupid, it wasn't well recieved.

For the most part, I like Gorringe. Footy media these days is either boring or clickbait merchants

Agreed, my comment wasn't meant to be one of dislike, anything that challenges the old guard I'm ok with, more an observation that it was, in fact, a matter of time before he pushed too far.

According to the "comedian" Hughesy, the damage was done earlier by Embley, not Gorringe. But, agree that interlopers and 10 game footballers/media performers (looking at you too, Fitzy) should be excluded from the proceedings, or kept to one per side. The old Russell Gilbert cameos in the original Whitten Games were very good.
I guess it's about getting eyeballs on the game, though, as in the end it's about fundraising. Be interesting to see if the dollars matched the crowd increase this year.

Yeah, Gorringe's act looked in very poor taste though, I agree, a little cameo from a Russell Gilbert/Strauchnie is acceptable but f*** me, soon they'll have celebrity cats playing.
I think Gorringe has gotten too big for himself and tries too hard, that's just me though, I can see why and respect other opinons of him.
