Robe GC yesterday, been blowing a gale all week but yesterday it lightened off, no comps so had the course to ourselves, course broken into 3 x 6 holes sections - Ocean, Dunes and Town, 1st 12 holes on the new layout and last 6 are the old school original holes.
its fantasic for a country course, had some port fairy vibes, nice wide fairways however as soon as you go off them you pay the price with ball eating shrubs, very strategic course to get the ball in the right place, not overly long, be interesting when very windy.
96 off stick, only one lost ball and 28 points, very enjoyable round.

Re: Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go
Didn't see any snakes thankfully
Played the 12 hole Chook run last night, 24 points inc one birdie, even more enjoyable playing it the second time when you knew a bit about the holes. It was blowing hard though which made it a real test. Great local club with welcoming locals.
Have been taking my backswing up steeper which forces the rotation of the hips which seems to be helping my irons. Hit some really nice ones last night which has been missing for months.

Sat
Flaggy stroke round
88.
Putted atrociously.
Victor today
84 off stick, 34pts.
Few unforced errors hurt.
Driver had a 2 way miss happening.
Did sink a 20m birdie putt on 15, that was the highlight.
Then went to mccracken to pick up what I thought was $50 & a goodies bag for long drive.
There was another $300 in there.
Apparently i won best male

Re: Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go
Had a pretty reasonable run over the last few days last week.
Wednesday
Twilight – 1st round of the Twilight Club Champs. Shot 36 off the bat (1 over).
Started bogey, bogey, par – and the par was interesting. Tee shot OB (great start), took the drop on the fairway from 106m and holed it. Parred everything else except the 6th, where I stuck the approach to about 3 feet and rolled in the birdie.
Thursday
Took two managers from work out for 9 holes and shot another 36, this time far less colourful. Parred the first eight holes, then bogeyed the 9th (annoying, since it’s my favourite hole). Followed that up with many, many Coronas and got yelled at about “being out drinking all day tomorrow at your stupid golf day” I didn’t catch the rest, I wasn’t really listening, it went along the lines of Blah Blah Blah.
Friday
WaterAid charity day at Mt Osmond. Cracking day. Our team had two genuine non-golfers (and I mean non-golfers
), Luckily, I played really well. We finished 17 under nett, good enough for 4th. That’s when I knew there were some serious cheats out there so decided we'd win the drink off, which we did comfortably.
Highlight was the par-5 16th (I think). Hit a drive up the middle, flushed a 3-wood just off the right side, and it rolled down off the mound to about 6 feet. We all missed the eagle putt but still made birdie. I also dropped my putt in the overall putt-off competition.
After golf we went big. I then invited myself to a farewell for a bloke I’ve never met, from a company I’ve never worked for, at the Walkers Arms — which went well into the night.
Saturday
Didn't make golf in morning (No surprise here) tried to pull out of cricket in the afternoon, got told we were already short, made my lowest score of the year with only 9, we hit 350 and the opposition made 6/190 off there 40 overs. F@#king painful to watch.
LIV this weekend.
Keen.

Re: Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go
Back to the vines tonight for a twilight 9.
I can't remember ever getting a birdie on the first, but I did tonight, even better I was never on the fairway!
Par on 2, bogey 3 and par on 4 had me sitting even and 13 points, of course I scrubbed 5 and struggled from there, 19 points

Round 2 Twilight Club Champ's 36 off the stick again.
Gives me a 5 shot lead going into the final round next Wednesday. Played awesome last night had 5 putts for Birdie, yes, I only made one but, I felt like I played really well.
My 2 bogeys were on the long par 3 (pulled my 4-iron left, nice chip up to about 8ft but didn't sink the putt) and then Index 1, Par 4 8th directly into the breeze fell in too the trap of trying to over hit into the breeze didn't end well, I actually had to sink a 6ft putt for Bogey, could've easily been a double.
The 9th annoyed me, basically drove the green to then 3 putt for par, although the birdie putt did lip out

Re: Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go
Wirrina today for the Brown Jacket, weirdly the wind was up on the front 9 but then dropped off for the back 9.
Greens have some kikuyu type grass creeping over them which is concerning, last time I was down there the greens were great, hope they can get rid of it. Fairways understandably dry (drove thru lady bay on way down and they were the same) but fine. 96 ots and 29 points, couldn't get much happening but wasn't horrible either.

Flaggy today.
18th is out and replaced by 1.5 for a couple weeks.
76 off stick for 38pts.
Some changes to the bag.
Driver, 3w, 7w, pw, gw, 58 and 60 all survived.
Added in the cleveland xl halo for something different, the 4h,6h,7h,8h,9h. Hit them pretty well.

Saturday
Tried to replicate thursday but just felt so wrong. And got nothing going. 24pts.
Today was much better, however the vanilla slice returned. But i adjusted for it.
35pts.
Not enjoying the hike back from 17 green with 18 out of action though

34pts on Friday, 21pts on the turn - let a good opportunity go but happy with how I played

Re: Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go
Twilight comp tonight, windy but played some of the best golf Ive played in months, 19 pts and 45 off the stick, but felt much better than that, 2 official GIR's but 3 other approaches hit the greens but rolled just off (greens very very firm). I think Ive solved my iron troubles which has restricted any good scoring, some light at the end of the tunnel!
