One of the old health service sites I worked at 20 years ago (Natimuk) had the fires go right around the nursing home

Just stepped off the ship from Antarctica to hear about this.

I have a friend in the nursing home and another elderly lady that lives about 200m down the road. Im still in Buenos Aires an im unable to check that they're safe.
I have nonidea if her house is still standing.
Im messaged a friend who's partner works at the nursing home so hopefully I have some luck there.
My new Mantra - I am no longer available to things and people that make me feel like shit

Tim Picton, brother of SA Minister Chris Picton, dies after being struck in a Perth street on 27th December last year.

How about we stop with the coward punches?

Police received reports of an alleged assault outside a licence venue near the intersection of James St and Mountain Tce in Northbridge at around 5.30am on Saturday December 27.

Mr Picton had allegedly been hit, fallen and struck his head on the pavement, losing consciousness, WA Police said.

A 20-year-old man was charged with grievous bodily harm and granted bail after appearing in court earlier this month

I was in an Auckland pub, with around 4 (kiwi) mates, after the rugby one Saturday night
I was wearing a Wallabies jersey & a couple of blokes at another table said a few things which I ignored (because they were pretty simpleton comments anyway)
Later, one of them spat beer in my face at the bar when I was buying.
My mates wanted to punch on but I just said leave it

Next morning, on the front page, there had been a fight outside a pub and a bloke hit his head and died.
As I said to my mates that day "There but for the grace of God go I and I have a lot more to lose than those c***s"

Funny thing in NZ - I have never encountered a problem with a Maori or Islander.
Its always the whiteys that want to fight.

On the anniversary of David Hookes' death too. Amazingly that bouncer got off!

I don't understand people who get that worked up over a sporting event...

I agree - they were saying things like "Gregan is a cheat" basically because some of the Aussie crowd were calling Richie McCaw a cheat
I had said nothing - just drinking with my mates.
If they had said he's a gobby little $hit I would have agreed with them
The night before we were drinking with a few Islanders. I dont reckon it would have happened had they been there but, mind you, the blokes I was with were all big rugby blokes.
Just effing stupid. Never get into a wrangle with someone with nothing to lose

2011 RWC: McCaw was so offside nearly all game he was speaking French by the end of it
Joubert pinged him with about 5 minutes to go after his 45th time offside
The look on McCaw's face when finally getting pinged said it all:

Mais pourquoi monsieur? ^#(^

They reckon Joubert now has a beach house in NZ

Rob Hirst :(

Oils were the first band I connected with as a young teenager and I was always drawn to Rob's work on the drums, feared for the worst when he cancelled a gig 3 weeks ago...

Incredible musician
