He’ll be lucky if he doesn’t get the arse when he gets back home….
Do you think Boland has had a better series than him?
My answer is no, he’s had to bowl to better batters and on foreign soil, I thought he was crap initially but he’s grown on me with his ticker. I do see lower back stress fractures coming his way with his action though.
No way has carse been better then boland. Carse the first 3 tests was going at 5 an over. He may have got poles but he realeased pressure consistently, boland on the other hand is relenting. Only day 1 of this series was he poor. Carse always gives 100% but hes not quite consistent enough. Not sure you guys get how.lucky you are to have boland as your 4th bowler, hed be our best.

Absolutely, I was going to write a reference to the Sidchrome Super Test Team and he is one of 3-4 Poms that make it

It’ll be ideal if we could bat through until about 50 min before lunch (200 ahead) so we can then have two cracks with the new rock. Gives them a slight incentive to have a crack if they want to stick to their mantra of always pushing for a win via positive cricket.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Team of the series would be tough selecting, and odd given Australia will win at least 3-1 minimum, yet England will have good representation which probably suggests Australia's win is on the back of a few good individual performances rather than a team effort.

1. Head
2. Crawley
3. Root (yeah i know he hasn't batter there but who else can you put there)
4. Smith (a bit lucky a dead rubber 100 gets him on the back of no one else to pick)
5. Brook (very lucky but has to be ahead of the other batters based on his average)
6. Carey (no brainer)
7. Stokes (more so on the back of his bowling, he can play as the allrounder)
8. Neser (14 wickets at 17 and a couple of valuable batting innings has to see him in)
9. Starc (man of the series)
10.Carse (A lit bit reluctantly have him in, 22 wickers but at 27 in a low scoring series isn't great but once again if its not him who is it)
11. Boland (18 wickets at 25, but in opposite fashion to Carse has seemed to pick up big wickets and game changing spells)

Sorry but you can't pick Root at 3 if he flatly refuses to bat there, I'm sure Smudge will gladly fill the spot ;)

As for Smudge, you are aware that he's averaging 88 for the series aren't you? So hardly a case of no one else to pick given the fact that only 7 players have averaged over 30 and one of them is a frontline bowler.

I do agree with your XI though although it wouldn't bother me sticking Tongue in.

I still think Trav gets POTS
He has been so far ahead of the rest with the bat and most likely ends up with the top score in 4 of the 5 tests

Prior to this innings Smith was averaging 34, not normally team of the series type stuff and well below his average performance. Normally a 34 average probably wouldn't get you team of the series accolades.

Yeah Tongue would have been in there had he played all the tests. Looks a likely sort.

Funnily enough whilst they probably make team of the series, Smith, Stokes and Brook to an extent haven't performed as well as their career average. Both Smith and Brook average over 50 in test cricket yet up until this test was averaging under 35.

He was averaging 45 prior to this innings in a series where ball has dominated bat.

i missed the not out fair play..........play on.

Still would be rare for a batter to make a team of the year with just the one 50 for the series so the 100 has really helped.

It just been that kind of weird series......not often a team that will probably lose the series 4-1 would undeniably have 4-5 players in the team without too much criticism.

Come on mate its not the AFL All Australian side where we have 17 midfielders and a ruckmen.

Next you will be asking for Starc to be batting at 5.........

So barring some freak Pommy second innings knock it looks like Trav will end up having the top score in 4 of the 5 tests this summer.
Over a 5 test series I’m not sure how often that happens

Its been a very weird series

What it the series shows is that Australia has had the three best players of the series (Starc Carey and Head) Stokes and Root are arguably next along with Boland and you can throw a blanket over the rest.

What the series has shown is that the if you do play smart disciplined test cricket your odds of winning are better.
