Langer and Hayden wouldn't have been dismissed against this attack.

I'm happy we've won the ashes but I think it would've been a lot closer with Joffra and Wood opening the attack. Carse and Potts shouldn't have got a look in, all things being equal.

Ok…..let’s send in one of the 3 bowlers we have to try and survive and not get hit.
Fun stat

Neser has 5 more first class centuries than the current Pommy number 3 :)
How the F can you be selected as a specialist Test No. 3 without ever having scored a FC century?
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

And if Cummins and Hazlewood had played every test Root still wouldn’t have a century in Australia :)

Wait until we arrive in Sth Africa. Their pace attack is a genuine upgrade to what we are facing now.

How could Green or Webster let Neser be the night watchman? Surely either of them would be begging to get a chance to bat at 4. Especially Webster, who now comes in at 9. His 120kmh mediums won’t keep him in the side.

Yep Webster should have been the night watchmen given he was coming in at 8 and now will be 9.

It's a crazy world we live in.

Into “em Marn!

Ask him how much he and Alex had to pay to get an acquittal in 2017?

Mind you mate when you’re out just go, when you”re batting on off and within 10 mins off stumps just shoulder arms to anything on a sixth stump line….
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

F***, I'd hate to see how much negativity and whinging would go on in here if we lost the series.

They came over here full of confidence, we were going "ok" at best and lost 3 of our 4 frontline bowlers yet all I've read all series is how Trav should be dropped, Trav isn't interested, no one is trying, there's no celebration when we take a wicket, we are shit, we don't try anything, we try doing too much. Just take a few minutes out of the day to appreciate that we've won the series, we're in a dominant position in this match despite all the shit-canning pre-match and since the first session.

We're doing alright for a team that has holes everywhere and needs to improve so much, roll on South Africa to put us to the test.

I like it mate, call it out. It's seems it just easier for people to whinge/shit can/get their back up about something the team/a certain player is doing and they can't do anything right in their eyes no matter how successful they are.

Agree, the sum of our whole this series has been greater than the sum of the parts.

Yes it's been helped by poor preparation by the POMS before the series and some absolutely mindless cricket by them at times but if good cricket teams know when to dig in and play smart (Boland and Starc at Brisbane, Carey and Head in Adelaide), tactical awareness to make the English change their game (Carey up to the stumps), discipline to bowl the good lines to induce mistakes by England (the bowling attack but especially Starc) and finally seizing the moment and playing attacking purposeful cricket (Head in Perth and last night) we are watching a good Australin team, not great, that deserve to be 3-1 up.

It's all the meritorious when you think we've missed Cummins, Hazelwood and Lyon for the majority of the series.

Change is a-coming but bring it on as with three big series coming up, South Africa, India Jan 2027 and the ASHES Jul/Aug 2027.

I seen Punters prediction for how our next Ashes squad will look, not that I'd question his intel but there's a fair bit of age in the group.

The most notable inclusion was uncapped youngster Campbell Kellaway, whom Ponting identified as a long-term investment for Australian cricket. He also reiterated his backing of Cameron Green despite a modest run of form in the current series, while suggesting Josh Inglis could play a pivotal role in the 2027 contest.

Ponting believes Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc will continue to be central to Australia's plans, while fast bowlers Scott Boland and Jhye Richardson remain locked in a battle for a permanent spot in the playing XI.

Ricky Ponting's predicted Australia squad for Ashes 2027: Pat Cummins (c), Alex Carey (wk), Scott Boland, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis, Campbell Kellaway, Mitchell Starc, Jhye Richardson, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Hazlewood, Todd Murphy, Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon, Beau Webster, Oliver Peake.

Whilst I get the desire to have Hazelwood and Lyon there, father time and soft tissue injuries dont mix...

I like Kellaway and Peake. Renshaw has to be in mix too IMO. I also wouldn't rule out O'Neil, Morris, Doggett, Bartlett, and Rocchecelli as bowlers

Yeah agree. Kellaway and Peake the future stars. Renshaw at nearly 30 could come in and have an immediate impact.

O'Neill and Bartlett look really good with both being able to swing the ball. Morris is starting to lose time, his 27 already and still doesn't appear anywhere closer to overcoming his injury concerns. Fingers crossed in can get over it in the next or two and make a crack at it in his early 30's.

Will be 36 and 39 respectively, given how many consecutive tests Lyon played and then how much he has missed through injury over the past couple of years the questions will be asked, it's great that he's only playing the red ball stuff but it's also a 5 day gamble each time, especially if he breaks down on day one.

Has Hazelwood ever broken down during a game?
