Re: Things that you rate!
Total Knee Replacement Surgery
6 week update
Well it's 6 weeks tomorrow since the op. Again, my knee is feeling really good. It's strong, I feel like I've increased my height by an inch as I'm walking more upright. My back issues have ceased. The other day, I accidentally did 13000 steps, just pottering around the house.
Sleep.... that's an ongoing issue. I've tried just about every combination of sleeping on my back, on my side, knee brace on, knee brace off, pillow under the knee, no pillow. The most sleep I've got straight is 2 hours since I've been home. Thankfully most of the time I've fallen back to sleep but last night I was sitting at my computer from 1.30 - 3am icing my knee again.
I sent a message out of desperation to the clinician to ask for advice and they told me that unfortunately some patients suffer from pain (I quoted a 7 or 8 to the clinician) for many months.
I'm back at work tomorrow which presents many issues for me. My role is generally behind a desk all day so physically it should be ok but I've had to nap during the day about 90% of the time. I'm also icing many times daily which I won't be able to do at work.
Would I do this again? The jury is definitely out.

I agree, it does look awesome but there's probably 10 places I'd sooner go to. Each to their own, I can understand the attraction behind it.Dutchy wrote:Yep looks great, put that on my list to doLightning McQueen wrote:Seeing FC live out her dream on her trip to Antartica to be up close and personal with the penguins.

Re: Things that you rate!
Having the snooker table my Dad bought me when I was a teenager finally returned to me after being borrowed for many, many years by my brother-in-law and now having the room to have it back.
Needs some TLC but it’s got great bones … 8x4 slate top.
Now the fun begins getting it perfectly level.

Yep, agree.
All levelled, although the felt isn’t in great shape. Will see how we go but might need to re-cloth it.
Plays absolutely true, as you’d expect from quality slate.

My missus is having her hip replaced today, in surgery now. She’s been through a lot over the last 5 years so hopefully this will go smoothly. Can’t be any worse than the pain and restricted movement she’s had in the last few months.

I know a few people who've had hips done and it seems to be a quicker recovery than knees.
Not sure if it's just the people I know or whether that's the case in general.

Yep, I believe so. She’s opted for an anterior approach (front) rather than the usual posterior (back) or lateral approach (side), which minimises the incision and avoids cutting through major muscles.wenchbarwer wrote:I know a few people who've had hips done and it seems to be a quicker recovery than knees.
