I don't remember Carey letting his team down through a brain explosion quite like that.

There are no similarities.

Yep
150 to get with over 2 full sessions remaining in a flat deck with your frontline spinner missing.
Two set batsmen that could just knock it around and see the new ball off

Do you think - taking into account the game situation like what Jim said - that the brain fades are of an equivalent nature and magnitude?

RB
Yes game awareness means you gotta be smarter than usual
Concede

However this series has little to do with bazzabat bazball this and that
Its about the better team playing at home

I would rather blame Brook than Smith on brainfades this innings

Brook's shot was bloody awful. So was Smith's.

In Smith's case - you've just hit 4 boundaries by playing excellent cricket shots, then that?

It's rubbish.

I agree we're the better team - probably home or away - but this series has confirmed that it's smarts, tactics, discipline, concentration, teamwork, and holding catches that's the difference, rather than merely talent.

mal wrote:Game plan for England
Introduce BAZBAT
Get 100- runs before the new ball
To about 6/307
Play shots, dont be too accountable or too safe
Then negotiate the new ball

Easier said than done

7/309 job done
Now the plan MUST be
Bat sensibly- nothing rash- each ball in its merit

EG
Tea plan should be
8/380 and game on

OZ
Just bowl the 3 best bowlers as much as possible and win

PS i misjudged when new ball was available in first post

Not quite, maybe a kilometre.

Steve Bucknor would have been proud of that decision.
