Interesting morning at the Curators Breakfast this before play today

Was fascinating hearing about the differences between our drop ins vs the MCG and how AO turf management is expanding its influence and business interests across the country and internationally. We are responsible for the GMHBA drop ins.

Hough also al talked about ideal water measure of 30-32% for the soil. was 32-33% yesterday. A few of the batsmen winged that it hel up a bit yesterday. Der what test wicket doesnt hold up a bit on day one and is quicker on days 2&3. Toughen up you teddy bears...

Burdett also talked about his love of red tins (always cracked one with Barry Gibbs in the first over of any game at teh AO) and his scientific methos of testing the bounce of the pitch

Each day he dropped a ball from a 12 foot pole and measured the bounce at every 2 feet along the pitch average height was typically 90-100 cm

Adelaide 2006-07 f day one it hit that range, day five the bounce ranged from 50-120 cm which generally pretty typical for his wickets.

First four days of that test he was getting bagged by all and sundry and the day five happened and the test was won with three overs to go at 6:40 pm

SCG curator text him to say congratulations from going from the sh!thouse to the penthouse and he was a dozen red tins in with the Australians and POMs at midnight out the back of the old rooms

Breakfast was OK but sad to report no red tins unlike the old days at the Terry Jenner test match brekkies

My mates went back to HK (including Gareth Thomas in said ECB Jacket) on Monday morning expecting a draw. I said there would be a result
Got off the plane to find out they had lost
One funny story - we tried to get into a gentlemens establishment (opposite the EQ Club) on Friday night. We might have been a tad worse for wear.
Bouncer to Gareth in his very fine white jacket (with red & blue diagonal piping) with Eng & Wales CB logo on the pocket: "No fancy dress allowed in here mate!"

So was I to a mat who was my boss at the time.

He lived in the city and was coming into my office for score checks, I said to him that I reckon something big is gonna happen. Next minute he disappeared, he went to the game and witnessed the epic finish.

He paid for my box ticket for Saturday and funded my Melbourne Cup trip to Flemington so all is forgiven.
