I could understand it if they dropped him for Webster a la Warne getting dropped for Miller in the Caribbean in 1999 but to bring in Neser??

I think the big issue was that they probably knew Neser was a much better horses for courses selection at the GABBA over Doggett (plus Neser gives the extra batting ability) which it probably proved to be. Neser had the early wicket which should have been sent to DRS.....Doggett bowled......dog5hite (not helped by his captain setting some horrendous leg side / short bowling fields for him)

Was going to be hard to drop Doggett though so decided in the end to play both a take the no spin risk.

You're the Australian Test Selection committee you're paid to make hard decisions and too bad if someone feelings get hurt, after an OK test. Someones feelings are always going to get hurt so just picked the most balanced team

I wonder how his approach will be, chasing 200 last week all he needed to do was last 8-10 overs and we're a third of the way to the total.

I've always been against him opening in the longer format but more than happy to be proven wrong, he used to open as a kid although that means sweet FA, he has a lot of Warner about his game and it worked well for him for some time.

We complain wanting change, we get change and we get all emotional over it.

As for Gaz, I'd draw a Lyon in the sand and tell him he won't play til Sydney and that will be his farewell test.

Starc m’s comments last night were interesting.
He mentioned that the pink ball doesn’t suit the Gabba as the pitch is much harder and they take too much grass off meaning by 15 overs the ball is shot.

“Adelaide is better suited to pink ball tests, the Gabba pitch is much harder and the ball doesn’t last. We’ve seen it before here, the Pakistan test turned into a grind, it was like bowling with a tennis ball last night”.

He also noted that the late field settings were partially tactical , hinting that we didn’t want to cop a new ball under lights , rather start under sunshine and hope that the English bowlers also have to cope with a dead ball by over 15.

Without both Cummins and Hazlewood, you need some leadership/experience to hold down an end when things aren’t going perfectly like last match.
