Might as well start with a wicket down when it comes our time to bat with khawaja having a free pass it seems.

Renshaw and Webster for Uzi and Lyon then.Lightning McQueen wrote: Yeah, I was extracting the urine.
I'd bring in Renshaw, Cummins and Webster at the expense of Uzi, Lyon and Doggett.
Although I can see them going unchanged with Usman to hit 68 to keep him in the team for at least another two tests.

I reckon Aeries got it. Khawaja will miss out and either Inglis or Webster bat 6, most likely Inglis based on the named squad.Aerie wrote:Maybe Head to open and Inglis in at 6 (Green 5)?
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If Khawaja was going to be dropped there was no reason to keep him in the squad

Why does Inglis deserve a spot ahead of Webster?Aerie wrote:Maybe Head to open and Inglis in at 6 (Green 5)?

Trying to think how they manage his departure best?
option 1, dont pick him in squad, negative media ahead of his home Test
option 2, drop him night before, shock to team mates so close to the match etc etc
option 3, let him have one final chance, announces his retirement after the match if he fails

I really hope they dont open with Trav, after all the hype and all the media he has done in the last week, there will be so much more pressure on him to succeed. Like him at 5 to be honest, fair enough in the mickey mouse game open with him, they got away with it in Perth. Brisbanes a different kettle of fish.

Re: The Ashes 25/26
I'm probably more sold on Head opening than before.
Its clear that he is now in that mind frame he is batting one way, regardless of situation, regardless of his current form, regardless of the opposition. If that's the case there is just as many arguments for that being at the top of the innings.
Gets the harder / faster new ball
Gets more attacking fields for a few overs
Less situation pressure compared to coming in at 3/30
Likely better batting conditions in the second innings of games.
IF he gets going you can almost control a test from the first session.
From a selection piece probably easier to find a middle order batsmen than a world class opener as it stands now. Kellaway could be the one in a few years.

If it seams it spins as SK Warne used to say and Brisbane has good bounce for the bat pad catches, so why drop your best spinner?
IMO

Has Uzzie been ruled out?
Or we just not picking him?
