I understand the community aspect of the girls & guys playing together on the same day, but if that's a limitation to joining/amalgamating to a country league, then country leagues will continue to suffer, I feel

Tell me youre from the city without telling me youre from the city, leave the thinking to the country bumpkins. Netball is a non negotiable part of country football.
The only leagues that dont have netball are real close to the city and are not really considered country football, ie SFL and Hills div 1, these comps should join the amateur league

The towns that make up BSR would have a total population of 1000.

We get 2 junior footy and 2 senior footy teams.

We are then able to fill 5 junior netball teams.

The kicker we also can fill 6 Senior netball teams with 9 players a team........how????

Half of the girls are city girls, friends of our country girls who went to uni. The girls love the country netball atmosphere as it craps all over city netball, most city teams dont even have clubs ect.

Netball is a massive massive massive part of the footy. I wont even start on the fact we have 10 trainers on game day. 8 of which are also netballers and arrange their training around their game times. If netball was at a different place we would lose those.

Then their is the canteens ect that thrive.

Anywhere from 6-6:30am wake up.

My 7 year old daughter gets into her netball dress, i put the footy coaching apparel on, the partners gets her netball gear on and packs her 'sports trainer' clothes for when she plays the role.

In the car by 7am.......coffee / hot choc flasks in hand.

First game is daughters netball at 8:30am. game goes until about 9;30am.

We all then venture over to the BBQ and grab the breakfast special at each club.

11:30am comes along and i get in the change room for the b grade. Meanwhile the partner is training for whichever team needs it whether that be footy/netball

Once done me and the daughter venture across to watch the partner play the 3pm netball.

We then all catch the end of the A Grade footy with beer/soft drink in hand.

Home games meal a cheap as but amazing home cooked style dinner at the club and pressos. Away games mean a stop at one of the local pubs for a feed on the way home,

9pm we get back through the doors talking successes and failures. Wouldnt have it any other way!!!!!!! Its the best.

I guess in the hypothetical creation of the new Pt Pirie/NA Football League, they can discuss netball clubs being part of the amalgamation.

The hypothetical Pt Aug/Whyalla Football League won't need to bother with netball being a part of discussions.

Mount Barker is less than 20 minutes away from Nairne-Bremer, Mount Lofty, Uraidla, Hahndorf, Onkaparinga Valley, Macclesfield, Echunga and Meadows.

Would also think those that have moved to Mt Barker potentially are still within a reasonable distance to keep a relationship with their former club as well.

Makes for a significantly better club atmosphere having both at the same club on the same day IMO.

As someone who did this as a junior, I concur.

It not only creates atmosphere, but it also allows a family to travel long distances to the same venue to play Footy and netball.

Also has other benefits of doubling your pool of volunteers to get roles filled around both clubs.

In the Riverland the A Grade Netball is played on a Friday night indoors and we have some of the best Winter weather for sport.
When we travel to the South East to watch the youngest son play footy we are continually amazed with the number of people at the Footy/Netball because they all travel together. Atmosphere in the clubrooms after the game is fantastic and what Country sport is all about.

Whilst I've moved on from it before as a member of the CSLFUP it was always a "*fist pump* and yes!" when I got GSFL games where as appointed to the SFL it was always a "FFS, No"

GSFL always guaranteed a good game, a welcome by the home club and a chance to have a few beers and a chat afterwards - Langhorne's were always the best.

SFL I always found I felt like leper as an umpire.

IMO Outside of SANFL games, country footy is the best and it because of the community feel with netball involved.

Nope, there is a port netball club but not a strong link with the football club.

Clubs: Sollis, Blue Wrens, Central Risdon, Ports, St Marks


The courts aren't at any of the footy ovals so it wouldn't be the same as the NAFA clubs.
