Good idea, wait until next year when you get less for Merrett.
I’d say with a full year to run on his contract that Weddle was untouchable. Next year when he is out of contract perhaps he might be attainable but zero chance of coming to us.
I think we will throw some stupid money at a FA next year as we will be nowhere near cap this year or next

All lined up for a front ended contract for Butters.

You wont come close to the Demons offer

Pickett's stupid contract comes into effect next year, don't forget

Merrett off the books, McKay's contract reverts back to bugger all, already way under the cap. Reckon we'd have a price that would be worth looking at

Price might be worth looking but be honest we aren’t a great destination currently.

I still believe Butters will ink a long term deal to stay at Port but if he was to leave then I’d suggest he would try to get to a club playing finals or around the mark. Dogs would still be my tip if he leaves

Weddle for Merret and Caddy sounds about right. If not Caddy then 2 1st rounders that will help get Butters done
Merret will be a year older
Caddy perfect replacement for Gunston
Weddle will be a much better player end of next year than now.

I dont mind giving up Weddle if its a stupid offer. Hell he does some really dumb shit, he moves quicker physically than his brain moves. Hangs onto the ball way too long then has no options ahead of him.
And if it allows us to bring in both Merret and Butters then its a definite yes

Whys that, Weddle will be seen as absolute potential top liner at end of next year and you need to pay up to get him out. Merret will be the steak knives part of the deal at his age

I was having a shit afternoon and needed to pass some time.

I'm not Port fan in the SANFL and I would've thought he'd actually appreciate the way that entering the AFL gave his team a chance to be significant, wouldn't have dominated the 2000's if Port weren't in the AFL, they manipulated the player talent pool beautifully.

Love the sour grapes about the decade of dominance.

We all love Port in the AFl. 119 points and its now 21 years and youve won **** all.

What's not to like.

I had no sour grapes, I went to a few after parties and trumped in on some corporate boxes on Grand Final Day, I even wore the red, blue and white.

How many AFL premierships hs your team won?

You're trolling the wrong person if you think I give a toss.

There's a bit of synergy between him and Boak I reckon.

I think we'll be ok next year but not in the premiership hunt and will be a young group. Like Boak he'll have to pull himself* away from mates he's played alongside for 8 years and a club that went over and above to look after his family when times were tough. The club is in a similar but not as desperate position as it was in when Boak could have walked, one in transition to a new beginning and he's a leader as Boak was. I reckon he'd be absolutely torn and I get the feeling Boak and Wines would be excellent sounding boards for him.
