West Coast get an end of first round comp pick in 2025 and 4 rookie list spots that can be kept for 2026, 2027 and 2028.

North had to trade their pick, same should apply to West Coast imo

People are worried about an extra pick probably in the mid 20's after all the FS, NGA and what not, I think you should be more concerned about the band 1 compo we will get for Allen.

You'll end up with 1, 2 (Allen) 15, 19 (Assistance), 20, 34, 52.

Could have been 8 for 27 and 15 for 34 if you didn't ( as Jim duly notes make a shit decision ) and take Hawthorns two picks over Carltons.

Then it would have been 1,2*,8,19*,20,27. You then have something to work with even in a poor draft.

My issue with Jim is not about the bad decisions, I mean they have been terrible and right there for all to see. But My issue is being accused of tanking when we were just shit. Like genuinely shit.

As for the compensation pick, it's 1 pick at the end of the first round, it's certainly not at the North Levels over 3 years or the Gold Coast levels.

I never said you were tanking games this year and it wasn’t meant to read like that.
It’s pretty clear that your list decisions have been done on purpose and very deliberately to ensure you bottom out in a forced “tank” over a number of seasons.
Even this year you have basically forced your skipper out and pretty poor form to deliberately not even offer him a contract

The best part is the AFL “created” and end of first round pick for them so they can trade that to Brisbane for Starcevich and the Lions can use that pick for another one of their top 5 academy kids whilst getting Allen and Draper for free from the bottom couple of sides

We're admonishing West Coast for poor list and draft management yet we're sinking the boot into Brisbane for theirs.

The problem with the Father / Son though is the inequity in eligibility and the advantages the Northern states get with their academies and I'm with the St Kilda boss on this one, enough is enough.

Exactly. We can't have it both ways.

Eligibility of Father/Son is interesting. VFL sides needing 100 games yet SA sides needing 300. But yes, hopefully that is resolved over time and once the AFL sides in SA have been around more than 30 years they can drop the link to the 5 SANFL clubs each and just have it at 100 games with the AFL side.

The northern states academies help no doubt, but the AFL needs someone investing in the kids in these northern states that otherwise would likely play rugby.
Also, its not like the southern states dont have their own rorts too. NGA, Cat B rookies, etc all get abused too.

The system isn't perfect, no doubt, but when the other clubs make it easier for Brisbane by not bidding at the right time, then it's poor form to turn around and complain that Brisbane have it easy, in my opinion.
