Gaza only lost by 2 points to Marion. They are definitely beatable.
I found Pultney to be the most impressive side we came up against.
I backed them to win the last 3 weeks, and wouldn’t be surprised at all if they win this week. In fact, I think I’ll be tipping them.

Last Two Encounters
Marion 11.16 82 vs 11.5 71
Marion 16.17 113 vs 7.7 49
If Pulteney let Marion have 25+ shots at goal, they will have their hands full, even though this looks a different Pulteney this time around, who are in form.

Goes either two ways, a close game where either win, or Marion by 65+.

I'm going the latter.

Pulteney controlled the prelim with uncontested marks of the charts. If Marion don't close them down Pulteney can win, their forward line is powerful and their kids are very handy.

If Marion turn up fully tuned in they win by 10+.

Extra time in Div 5 Grand Final

Stewart from Marion had a shot after the siren from 45 out and didn’t make the distance.

No one scored in extra time yet or has Play HQ had a meltdown?

Marion kicked 2 goals to 1 in extra time and won by 8 points.

I don’t think PlayHQ has an extra time function by the looks.

Great Game by Pulteney today, first half was brilliant. Marion last half was excellent. Serious flip
Of the coin stuff.
Marion’s decision to move on their coach last season payed off. They were winning games off talent, but with very little structure and few that thought discipline didn’t matter.
New voice, higher standards and better structure got them the result today. Sometimes clubs make hard decisions, sometimes it works , sometimes it doesn’t and peoples feelings/ego get hurt but with 15 points to play with next season, expect a solid Div 4 outfit.
Pulteney at full strength will do some damage next season, fantastic last half of the season.
Great game of footy.

I'm sure another million or so James Sutherlands' way will fix it.

Pulteney probably wouldn't want to watch the last 2 mins of normal time in a hurry I don't reckon

2.30 left and Boyanton kicks it out on the full from about 20m out under very little pressure when they were 6 points up. A goal and its probably game over. Even a point would have probably been enough. Out on the full from there was a disaster

2.10 left and Kelly misses a groundball on the wing that probably would have forced a stoppage near the boundary, as he would have got tackled straight away if he actually picked it up. A chance to soak up some more clock

1.58 left and Harvey shanks one on his left foot when a 50m clearing kick to the either side of the ground was needed. Result is Marion scoring a goal to level up

34 seconds left and Boyanton again features, but this time has his head ripped off in the middle of the ground and the umpire just lets it go. Probably a couple of ticky touch frees in the same passage of play, but they put the whistle away. Clear free kick for too high missed though. Photo below for reference

The last free kick is also a little iffy. Not sure where I sit on it. He sort of takes possession, but not really and the tackle doesn't really linger, but the Marion player made sure to put some mayo on it. Could probably pay HTB or HTM. Play on could have also been called given the frees missed in the previous 20 secs of play. Luckily the kick fell short

Well done to Marion. They did well to come back from 3 goals down halfway into the 3rd and level up to force extra time. For Pulteney, it's definitely one that got away. Footy is a game of moments and there's probably another 50 moments you could single out for both sides and review, but I guess when they happen in the last 2 mins of a GF it's easier to put the microscope on them

Looking forward to renewing our rivalry with the blues next year and playing Marion for the first time

Greenacres picking up Wood from Gaza is a good get and look to have retained most of their list from this year, would assume they will be around the mark in 2026
Heard nothing from Eastern Park so that could be a bad sign as they're normally very active on social media announcements
The two teams coming down will be tough, expect SMOSH to be very different after a few lean years
The two teams coming up will need to add to their squads in my opinion, St Pauls will struggle if anyone leaves
Salisbury picked up a few rosewater blokes and Brad Prior returning, expect Gameau to be added when he's back in Adelaide
Woodville South Portland and Pooraka should be competitive if they have the same squads but need to add to their depth to take the next step

Expect some more signings for Greenacres to come.

Would have to be very close to the salary cap with some of these whispers going around!
