You lot?

It’s not just the strength of the list, it’s the different support environment, the massive disparity in pay, professionals vs amateurs, etc etc. do you think West has the same environment to support a player as an AFL side?

The AFL listed players generally don’t have to work throughout the week to earn a living … as a labourer, accountant, real estate agent, etc, etc. they haven’t had to physically and mentally exhaust themselves outside of the football environment. They have the best facilities to support them as needed.

SANFL clubs can’t come close to providing the same level of support.

Regardless of whether there’s 10 AFL listed players or 22, these issues remain, and cannot be reconciled.

You cannot have teams in the same competition under different rules and conditions … there is no way to ‘equalise’ this situation to the satisfaction of any party … ever.

The AFL clubs do what they need to do to play at an elite standard, there is nothing wrong with that, just don’t allow them to participate in a competition that cannot allow the 8 SANFL clubs to compete at the same professional level, in all area of their football operations.

It’s actually a miracle that Port or the Crows haven’t won a flag by now, and if that day ever happens, all those that enabled it to happen, including the club I’ve supported all my life, should hand their heads in shame.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

i think i counted 8 top up players that played on the weekend. you think they train at AFL level with the crows?
I get what you are saying about the benefits of the AFL listed players, but when you balance it all out, from a team perspective, they are not ahead of the top SANFL teams.

The problem is that it’s an equation that can never be solved … some days you’re probably right, others not.

They are different variables that don’t come into play for SANFL sides.

Anyway, it’s a whinge thread

So at least half of the players are full-time professionals (on an AFL salary)? I think that is significant.

No, they don't. They train less than most SANFL players do but here isn't the place for reason, won't go well.

Best not. Or they've been recently drafted and at 18 aren't SANFL ready let alone AFL ready but again, I wouldn't bother.

I reckon we've covered this previously and it's BS. But out of interest how many of Ports last Magpies team (or of the twenty that played against South) were 18? I know Central had two 17-year-olds, and an 18-year-old play on the weekend. How many 18-year-olds played for the Crows?

Confirming the inequity Adelaide had one 19 year old, I think. That's their current list profile though, quite a mature list.

Not our fault you don’t understand the argument playing out here … oh, is this what I put next?

You do exactly what you accuse others of doing … trolling and being a pest, but excel at making it personal. I’ve got better things to do, but here’s the return because you sometimes need to be put back in your box.

I’m sorry we’re not as smart as you, or anywhere near as smug.

Surely you’ve got better things to do like trolling the Adelaide AFL thread … or talking up how great Port are in their AFL thread … or even finalising the delivery of that mammoth announcement from 3 months ago which is pure vapourware.

If all else fails, you could stock up on mothballs to make sure you have enough.

Or maybe … reflect on that ‘last ever’ Magpies match at the Bay where you bawled your eyes out and I, amongst a few other, offered our sympathy and support … except you’ve since guzzled the Power Kool-Aid, thrown it back in our faces and danced on the Magpies grave.

You be you and the rest of us will be us, whatever floats your boat.

PS.

Did you enjoy the list of Port chokes in GFs since killing the Magpies? Glorious, isn't it? :P

I don’t profess to know the Crows list back to forward but I’d suggest the following were non AFL listed and all were solid contributers.

Tahana, Drury, Boyle x2, Strachan

All would get a game with most other SANFL sides.

Throw in the 9 below with significant AFL experience and it’s hardly an inexperienced outfit.

Schoenberg, Cook, Nankervis, Jones, Borlase, Scholl, Burgess, Murphy & Butts.

Not to mention McAndrew who is very handy
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.
