I think you're right but just had a gander. Prelims are gated but by the looks, PNU and St marys are the traditional ovals used are both being used for men this week. The other neutrals are the league grounds but league clubs still playing on them.

Suppose they had no choice.

All 3 womens prelims are at Blair Athol this week.

There was a fair bit of back and forths between the Div 2 & Div 6 semi's this week, TTG & Hope Valley have teams in both and my understanding was they were trying to keep their teams at the same venue, TTG travel to Angle Vale for their 2nd semi in W2 and their B Grade are scheduled to play Seaton in W6. A few possible scenarios were thrown around but the final result was W2: AV vs TTG (3:15pm at Angle Vale), W6 Seaton vs TTG (4:45pm at Pedlar Reserve).

The first semi final in W2 has Hope Valley vs Old Iggies (3:15pm at Hope Valley), W6: Ingle Farm vs Hope Valley (4:45pm at Rowe Park). Obviously not the best logistically for TTG & HV but kudos to hte league for rewarding the higher ranked sides, would be different if it was a traditional A & B Grade scenario.

CORRECT. $500 paid to the league for the privilege to host a final.

Kilburn may have paid to host the finals, but according to league rules, ALL Prelim Finals and Grand Finals are played at a neutral venue:

47.1 A Member Club listed in bold in Clauses 47.7 and 47.9 may apply to The League to host a Major Round
Match (“Home Final” or “Final”) excluding a Preliminary or a Grand Final on their Home oval or an available
neutral oval of their choice.

With Micham, Salisbury and Kenilworth having home games this weekend it leaves some pretty slim pickings for availability, PNU are hosting womens semi's so it really only leaves ROC, I should imagine it would be pretty difficult for them to find enough volunteers to not watch their seniors and stay back to cater for 3 prelims.

I don't think the league had much choice in the end.

I'm not privy to their decision making, and they may not have had many, or any, alternatives, but I do agree with AdelaideSaint that Marion would rightly be disappointed with the outcome.

At the end of the day, though, do they really need to play women's Preliminary Finals at a gated venue? Based on the games I've seen, they struggle to attract many supporters to watch them play anyway, so they should be encouraging people to come and watch, not pay $10 for the privilege.

Yes, I've been around womens footy for some time and I don't think that the ground hinders the result too much, it's a game of possession and metres inn the lower grades.

It's a final, it will attract more family to go and have a look, I'd imagine the crowd would be a pretty even split even more reniging a home ground advantage, having said that though, Kilburn to have a decent following.

Kilburn have a men's home round next week, so it won't be there.

W1 reserves 2nd semi final, last qu, scores tied, push in the back free to Goodwood in the forward line. Siren goes… and she kicks it!
To add to the drama, scoreboard showed Goodwood up by 2pts which was incorrect and the girl who won the game didn’t know until after the game so lucky she went back and kicked it instead of celebrating what she thought was a win

This was extraordinary. Not an easy kick either (also a free that wouldn’t be given half the time). Great finish.

Watched the main game as I’m to old and cranky for away footy and the improvement in standard in women’s footy the last 6 years is extraordinary. Credit to all involved

I thought the free was a blatant push in the back but my side is Goodwood!
Umps were not great, missed a lot of HTBs and let the players run a long way without a bounce

Also surprised that Henley girl was not reported for the late hit on the boundary line in the 2nd quarter near the goody bench
