Re: Great Southern Football League
Yes VH had 5 changes from the week prior, but credit where it’s due, GPE put up a good fight all day.
Carnelly must have had 45 disposals and if he doesn’t get 3 votes they umps know nuthin. But one of them tried his hardest to even up the game so I’m sure he will.

Just the 1 upset in Yank upsetting the Bays but all 4 other games had interesting margins.
Yank finally had their kicking boots on and it paid dividends in taking a top 5 scalp.
What makes it puzzling is how on earth did they only kick 1 goal against Compass 2 weeks ago
Great win but probably just emphasizes even more their frustration of probably being out of Finals contention
After GPE had a drought breaking win over Strath in Rd 2, there was plenty of optimism of more wins to come but it's looking likely that will be their only win for the season whilst Strath after receiving regular beltings in the 1st 6 Rds have shown remarkable improvement since with a couple of wins along with very competitive performances against a few top ranked sides.
McLaren easily accounting for Compass as expected despite it being played at the kennel.
Willunga touching up the reigning premiers by 10 goals showed they're a genuine flag threat remarkably after not making the finals last year whilst the Mudlarks wont be coming from the Elim Final this year for a fairytale flag.
Victor obliterating the Creek by 150 points was and wasn't a surprise if that makes sense? I know it doesn't make sense but does to me
Creek are a shadow of the team from a few years back but have been competitive here and there and their team Saturday on paper was probably as good a side they've fielded for the year with the exception of Kellock missing. Was great to see Clifford back after a 12 month layoff with an ACL and will be better for the run as is a quality player. Guessing Victor may have wanted to make a bit of a statement after eyebrows were raised when they only beat GPE by 8 goals?
Anyway the wash up is that there are ONLY 3 Premiership chances this year with the pressure on Victor to redeem their 1 point loss as favorites last year and win on their home turf this season

Great Southern Football League
Local rivalry round presents some great games…..potentially
Creek (8) v Strath (9)… creek won round 3 by 84 points! Strath have the better recent form and should make it 3 in a row. (30 pts)
Compass (6) v GPE (10). The Dogs recent form is patchy with a 10 goal win over Yank followed by a loss to LC and a 10 goal loss to McLaren. Should get over GPE (45 pts)
Pongy (5) host Yank (7). Pongy by 21 in round 3 with only one more scoring shot. They are not the same side as 2024 but still competitive. Yank are hard to pick and their goal kicking has played a part often this year- a 1 point loss and 1 point win in the last 2 games where that has played a big part either way. Safe money on Pongy in a close one.
Willunga (2) v McLaren (3). Willunga have taken all before them since losing to McLaren by 49 back in round 3. McLaren’s recent form is also very good with only a surprise loss to Bays who kicked 9-1.
Should be a cracker. McLaren by 15.
VH (1) v EB (4). Bays have shown strong consistent form all year and will be stinging from their 1 point loss last week. VH finally put a side to the sword last week making LC look awful, but with a few out the game might be a close one. VH by 24.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Rd 12 Tips
McLaren over Willunga by 8 points (Could go either way)
Creeks got flogged last week by Victor, the margin being the big surprise and there simply has to be a response this week. . Strath have improved heaps since copping some awful floggings in the 1st 6 Rounds. Bot have won 2 of their last 3 matches. Henry Bruce is a huge OUT for the Creeks but apart from him it's probably best team for the year.
Creeks by 16 points over Strath (Another that could go either way tho)
Myp/Sell over Yank by 22 points. (Yank definitely a chance but too inconsistent)
Victor should be far too good for the Bays by 35 points (Would be a shock to see Bays Win tho they did beat McLaren so guess anythings possible?)
Compass over GPE by 52 points.

Re: Great Southern Football League
ALL results went the way of the Higher ranked teams.
Willunga turned around their 49 point loss to McLaren in Rd 3 by taking the win by a very decisive 36 points
Creeks bounced back with a 224 point turnaround from last week
Creeks burst out of the blocks to have 3 - 1 (should've been 4 - 0) on the board in the 1st 5 minutes with Strath barely touching the ball.
Then for the next 15 minutes it was all Strath as they slammed through 6 goals straight without reply. Creeks steadied and by half time held a 6 point lead and a game that promised to go down to the wire. Well the Creeks put paid to that by blowing Strath off the park in the 3rd by kicking 9 goals to 1and the game was over. The only interest in the last term was if Strath would kick a behind for the match? After kicking 11 - 0 they finally missed.
Result being the Creeks running out easy 74 point winners to almost replicate their 84 point win in Rd 3.
Myp/Sell had to fight hard to get over Yank who had their nose in front at 3/4 time but couldn't sustain the pressure as the Mudlarks dominated the last term to run out 26 point victors
Victor had a very tight tussle with their neighbors E Bay. In a low scoring affair Victor led by 2 points at 3/4 time before dominating the last term kicking 4 -3 to Nil to win by 29 points
Compass had an expected easy win over GPE with the margin being 73 points which could've been a lot higher if not for some wayward kicking for goal in the 2nd half.

The home side had a bit more run and composure with the ball but Yank had opportunities early in the last quarter to make it interesting but didn't capitalise. Yank scored all 6 goals to the non clubroom end in the first and third quarters respectively and while there was a slight breeze to that end it wasn't impossible to score at the clubroom end.
Yank were a bit predictable in the last quarter going to the defensive side from kick ins nearly every time and Pongy/Sellicks were just ready for it. Home side responded well to a bit of rev up at 3 quarter time.
Success is in trying

Safe money is with the higher ranked sides as per round 4 ie Bays, Pongy, compass and willunga
McLaren v Vh should be a good battle. Vh were too strong in rd4 but injury and [emoji24] bays mean it’s a different lineup this time.

Rd 13 Tips
Bays will snap their 3 game losing streak by belting GPE by 112 points
McLaren host Victor - Just a guess here and will go for McLaren by 3 points
Creeks host Myp/Sel. Mudlarks need to win to almost rubber stamp their finals participation whilst Creeks are playing for pride.
Creeks upset the reigning Premiers last season at Hawk Park and if it wasn't for Henry Bruce still out with a hamstring i'd have said Creeks
to win again but with that will go with Myp/Sel by 11 points
Compass host Strath. Compass have disappointed this season and whilst still within touch of the 5 wont make it even tho they should take care
of Strath. Strath after a shocking start to the season found some real creditability until last rounds performance when they forgot to come out for the 3rd term. Bulldogs at home by 26 points
Yank host Willunga who are flying atm and will win this comfortably by 56 points. Yank have showed some great signs this year and are around the mark especially when they have their kicking boots on which too often hasn'nt been the case and costing them a few wins

Re: Great Southern Football League
Round 14 Tips
Wet & Windy conditions forecast shouldn't affect the best teams winning but may well decrease the margins
GPE host Willunga. Willunga will hammer the hapless magpies by say about 130 points
McLaren host the Creeks. McLaren will be buoyed by their win last week over Victor whilst the Creeks after only winning 1 of their first 8 games have won 4 of their last 5 which included small upsets over Compass and Myp/Sell. McLaren despite missing some key players should still be too strong for a resurgent Creek team although one never really knows in what looks like will be a real wet weather low scoring slog. McLaren by 26 points
Myp/Sel host Compass in what looks like conditions that both will be used to. Tipping the Mudlarks by 14 points purely because they're playing home.
Both teams have been disappointing in recent times, dropping games they were expected to win.
Strath host the Bays. A game with not a lot riding on it in terms of the premiership table standings at this stage. Expecting Strtah oval to be a bog and will be a very low scoring game which gives Strath a slight chance. Safe bet is Bays by 16 points
Victor host Yank. Yank have shown some real promise at times this season but cant see them challenging Victor who will be looking for redemption after last weeks loss. Victor by 63 points
