How much of this sits with the coach?
Eerily familiar to the start of the BGT in November last year, it's like our preparation for the start of a series doesn't have us ready to go from ball one. We need a test to get into it.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: Australian International Summer 2025/26
Question - how long has Michael Di Venuto been our batting coach? How many batting collapses on his watch? How many players have improved their techniques or improved generally under his watch? How does this **** have a job? What a great idea to keep Uzzi and Warner years past their useby date and picking dodgy allrounders ever since Watto left the scene. In 2013, Di Venuto was appointed the Australian national cricket team's full-time batting coach by head coach Mickey Arthur. In January 2016, due to an illness to incumbent coach Darren Lehmann, Di Venuto was appointed senior coach for the T20I series against India.
In February 2016 Di Venuto joined Surrey County Cricket Club as head coach, remaining there until 2020; he was head coach in 2018 when the club won its first County Championship title since 2002. In July 2021, along with Jeff Vaughan, he was appointed as the assistant coach of the Australian men's cricket team.

Re: Australian International Summer 2025/26
First session tonight holds the key, if not moreso the first hour.
If the Windies can knock over Trav and Webster quickly it may well be game over.
Aussies would not want to have a lead under 250 to feel as though they would win.
May well be that the Windies need to hold every chance given (hopefully none) early and they may well knock the aussies over for around 120

Re: Australian International Summer 2025/26
A late answer for you LM but still I think these stats from earlier in the month are very relevant and as frustrating as Australia's batting performance is what's happening in this test match is more evidence that we are still very much in a bowling era yet it is a faster scoring one.Lightning McQueen wrote:I guess the Lords pitch wasn’t that bad after all, we just can’t bat as well as we used to and it’s a bowlers game nowadays?

Obviously factors like the balls, pitches, more aggressive batters/more risk taking, less first class cricket/more T20 cricket have all contributed to this trend.
You could get angry about it and blame the players and coaches for the downturn of our batting or you could accept that this is how test match cricket is played in this era/this very good Australian team is on a downward curve as the players come out of their peaks/age out almost simultaneously.

Re: Australian International Summer 2025/26
There's no complaints from me, I prefer to see results rather than run fests, we've been blessed with a very strong bowling fraternity that has bailed us out on a regular basis, having the likes of Neser, Richardson and Boland as back ups has held us in good steed when injuries have occured. The Dark Knight wrote:A late answer for you LM but still I think these stats from earlier in the month are very relevant and as frustrating as Australia's batting performance is what's happening in this test match is more evidence that we are still very much in a bowling era yet it is a faster scoring one.Lightning McQueen wrote:I guess the Lords pitch wasn’t that bad after all, we just can’t bat as well as we used to and it’s a bowlers game nowadays?

One stat I'd be interested to see is opposition comparative scores between their 1st and 2nd innings', does our ageing attack become less potent in our 2nd dig as the recovery time is slower? Starc quite oftten doesn'tt have the same impact in the 3nd dig, Cummins however seems to have great endurance and remains ultra consistent.

5/192
Webster looking the goods on 58*
Carey 10*
Aust lead by 182 which is enough on this pitch which is really starting to play tricks.
Heads Grubber
Carey got a grubber followed by one that spat up but has managed to survive.
Windies only have their self to blame with numerous dropped catches.

Re: Australian International Summer 2025/26
Aust 7/247
Webster bit unlucky tickling one down legside to the keeper for an impressive 63.
Cummins 10
Carey 50* batting brilliantly
Scored 10 off his 1st 25 balls then switched gears to pummel 40 off the next 15 balls !!!!!! Including 2 effortless straight sixes off Seales and Greaves

Re: Australian International Summer 2025/26
Aust All Out 310 with a lead of 300
Head 61
Webster 63
Carey 65 (75) Got bogged down when Lyon came to the crease. Trying to farm the strike led to his downfall when he threw his wicket away.
10 off 25
40 off next 15
15 off next 35
Should've just taken the easy runs on offer as Lyon was looking comfortable ending up 13* (27)
My Tip is Windies to make 138

WI 1/18, Starc with another wicket in his first over of an innings but Green drops Carty in the Gully to deny Starc a second wicket.
Just saw on then score display drop catches in the match- WI 7 and Aus 3.
