Round 10, the return leg of home and away season begins

Christies Beach v Noarlunga - not sure where the Shoes are at, can see the Saints winning at home
Reynella v Ironbank Cherry Gardens - Wineflies by a whole heap
Happy Valley v Port Noarlunga - match of the round, can Valleys reverse their earlier meeting?
Flagstaff v Morphett Vale - this could get really ugly
Cove v Aldinga - Cove really need some percentage to stay in touch with Christies
my yes be yes, my no be no

Flagstaff v Morphett Vale - Can the emus keep it under 150

Jesus, Cove by 100, that might be giving them too much credit... Happy Valley are looking very impressive and I think they will get the job done by 5-6 goals v Porties. I think Christie's v Noarlunga might be an interesting game, Christie's by not much I reckon.

I was nearly going to add to my prediction that I don't think they're a top 5 team in any case. Much improved, but still a fair way off it

Looks like the Cobras surprised both of us, massive win with a heap of goalkickers too.
Shoes do a number on the Saints to keep the battle for fifth interesting. I'm struggling to get a bead on the Saints.
In the match of the round, the Vikings have a massive second half, coming from 21 points down to win by 19. Outscored Porties 8.4 to 2.6 after halftime. Wonder if Jars deployed the loose man down back again to get that result?
Wineflies cruise to an easy win, interesting to see Callan Semple make a comeback for B grade on the weekend.
Falcons pretty much did as expected against the Emus, hopefully things improve from this season onwards for them.

With $hoes doing Cove a favour by getting the chocolates against Christies, it does make this Saturday's game Shoes v Cove at Noarlunga a very important game for both clubs. I see Need played for Cove on the weekend so I would say he is back to the mines this weekend, that's a big out, should a be a decent game.

Hopefully with the return of the 2 captains this week, along with a couple of other injured players, christies return to being the competitive team to play against. And most importantly stay in the hunt for finals

Had a look at the Viking Port game. Vikings young legs too much for the older Port players.
The race for the last finals spot is a good one

It is sad to see a once great comp die like it is slowly doing.

To be fair, the one shock was Reynella v Christies, thought that would be a fair bit closer.

The other 100+ margins were a result of the the top three sides playing the bottom 3 sides.

I think Ironbank Cherry Gardens would be better off in the Country div of the Hills league, Aldinga continue to suffer due to their proximity to the GSFL and the bigger bucks, and Morphett Vale made GFs in 2021 & 2022, before retirements and Handby taking the best 3 players to Blackwood happened.

Cove were a basket case last year and have improved a heap, so it can be done.

Think the league suffers from the strength of the top 4 clubs, the games between these teams are first rate, as good a game of footy as you will see. Reynella would be one of the best 4th placed amateur teams in SA, I reckon.

The issue arises when you have a team like Flagstaff Hill being able to have 8 to 10 regulars not play against Aldinga, yet still take home a 100+ win. There is a massive divide between the top sides and the rest of the comp.

All that being said, Aldinga's Angus Stangewitz could mount a very strong case to be the best backman in the SFL. Would have easily had 30+ possessions, 15 marks, repelled numerous forays forward on the weekend. He's a bloody star!

I had the Saints within 50 so that was unexpected. The Shoes refusing to die has been a surprise as well.

If you looked at junior results over the last 10 years then the current top 4 would be miles in front explaining the current gulf. Cove juniors over the last couple of years heading in the right direction.
