I expected between 30 & 35, so on the lower side of that. Think it is neither here or there tbh. Season has been over after that R4 loss so people have given up going or if they were 50/50 going I presume they wouldnt have gone. Not sure but I'm not overly fussed. Like i mentioned earlier, as long as not losing bulk cash on attendances then live with the good & badmots02 wrote:Can someone produce a chart? Or some info graphics?
Where’s Morell when we need him.
Apples v apples
Round 4 this year v St Kilda 34k in the Sunday 2:50 time slot
Last weekend v Melbourne 30k in same time slot.
One in April, so warmer but both fine and sunny days.
Round 4 on the back of a disappointing loss to Essendon, last week on the back of a good win away against GWS.
Port playing for their season with a bunch of good players back in.
So was Sundays crowd a bit lower than expected, or not?

All of this could have avoided if we’d had a Review this week.

Re: AFL 2025
Great analysis there Trader. Question for you (and others) does the worst time slot attract the worst game? If the best game was given the worst time slot, would it still be the worst time slot?Trader wrote:Looking at the following timeslots in season 2025:
Thurs Night (6-8pm)
Fri Night (6-8pm)
Sat Lunch (12-2pm)
Sat Arvo (3-5pm)
Sat Night (6-8pm)
Sun Lunch (12-2)
Sun Arvo (2-4pm)
Sun Twilight (4-6pm)
Sun Night (6-8pm)
Note: we excluded Fri Arvo (3-6pm) and Mon Arvo (3-6pm), as these slots have had less than 4 games this season.
You have 108 games with a total crowd of 4,071,616, or an average of 37,700.
Only 3 time slots have an average crowd this season over 37,700, those being:
Friday Night (6-8pm), average 54,079, or +43.44%
Sun Night (6-8pm), average 47,769, or +26.71%
Thurs Night (6-8pm), average 45,905, or +21.76%
The worst performed timeslot is Sun Twilight (4-6pm), with an average of 22,452, or -40.45%.
Followed by the Sun and Sat lunch times (12-2pm), with -24.37% and -18.34%.
Night time footy ranks the best, followed by afternoon.
Lunch time is bad and twilight is terrible.
Fri Night (6-8pm).....................54,079
Sun Night (6-8pm)...................47,769
Thurs Night (6-8pm)................45,905
Sun Arvo (2-4pm)....................36,668
Sat Night (6-8pm)....................35,405
Sat Arvo (3-5pm).....................34,195
Sat Lunch (12-2pm)................30,784
Sun Lunch (12-2)....................28,514
Sun Twilight (4-6pm)..............22,452

Another dumb thing from the AFL, having a bye round over the long weekend. Games on Thursday, Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday and having one game short. Dopey!Armchair expert wrote:I don't like the bye rounds being spread over 5 weeks, just have a week off.

Re: AFL 2025
I wouldn't necessarily say the worst game goes in the worst slot, and the best game in the best slot, (hard for the AFL to do noting they need to manage 6&5 day breaks, travel arranges, etc; and there is also the fact of what was expected to be a good game in February when the fixture was set, come round 14 is now a fizzer with one team exceeding expectation and their opponent underperforming), but there would certainly be a trend in that direction, the better games get the better slots and the less interesting games get parked in what's left over.gadj1976 wrote:Great analysis there Trader. Re: AFL 2025
I would say the highest drawing games, whether that be TV and/or attendance get the best spots. MCG averages 60k+ and I cant remember too many MCG games in shit time slots, although there is probably the odd oneTrader wrote:I wouldn't necessarily say the worst game goes in the worst slot, and the best game in the best slot, (hard for the AFL to do noting they need to manage 6&5 day breaks, travel arranges, etc; and there is also the fact of what was expected to be a good game in February when the fixture was set, come round 14 is now a fizzer with one team exceeding expectation and their opponent underperforming), but there would certainly be a trend in that direction, the better games get the better slots and the less interesting games get parked in what's left over.gadj1976 wrote:Great analysis there Trader. Its better than previous years when there was only 6 games over that weekend,gadj1976 wrote:Another dumb thing from the AFL, having a bye round over the long weekend. I actually like the bye spread over 5 weeks, it essentially still gives a full compliment of time slots for each weekend. The preference is obviously one week off for everyone but this years system is far better than previous years.
