Re: The South Australian Political Landscape
Sounds like her old woman really wants to be elected to parliament and had her eyes on top spot for the state upper house ticket next year (Sarah not up for re-election until 2030) once it became clear she'd missed out on a senate spot. The party said no and Game Snr. cracked the sh1ts. What a mess.mighty_tiger_79 wrote:Sarah game quits one nation
Statement from One Nation (emphasis mine):
The resignation of Sarah Game MLC has blindsided One Nation and its Members after the party decided not to place her mother top of the ticket in pre-selection.
Over the past week, internal discussions have taken place regarding the pre-selection of candidates for the South Australian state election.
Sarah Game supported the nomination of her mother, Jennifer Game, to lead the South Australian MLC ticket in March 2026.
One Nation Executive Members did not support Jennifer Game standing for an eight-year term in parliament.
In an alternative pitch, Sarah then offered to step down as the One Nation MLC and allow her mother to fill the remainder of her eight-year term as a casual vacancy to run top of the ticket herself.
Sarah has repeatedly expressed the pressure her mother, Jennifer, has placed on her to help secure a position in the South Australian Parliament. Jennifer issued a distressing ultimatum to both Sarah and the Party, demanding a nomination to the state parliament or she would no longer help Sarah, a single mother of three, with her children.
One Nation expressed to Sarah Game that we would not be held to ransom by her mother (Jennifer) and informed them both of this decision.
Sarah’s communication with the Party up until Friday, the 16th of May, remained supportive of the decision taken by One Nation to reject her mother's attempts to sway the pre-selection process.
Sarah Game's excuse for leaving One Nation is false and lacks the accountability and transparency she promotes on her website.
Yesterday's announcement by Sarah again shines a light on a very serious and growing problem in Australian politics, whereby a person can walk away from a political party that has invested time, money and resources into having them elected.
Every political party within Australia has been impacted by similar acts of treachery. It’s time for all state and federal parliaments to end the practice through legislative change.
If Sarah Game is confident that she could win a seat in her own right as an independent, she should do the honourable thing and step down from parliament and run in next year's state election under her own name.

From the most recent budget :MW wrote:on established properties under $1m... so maybe 10% of the market?Booney wrote:Vinnie slashing stamp duty, what tax does he up to get that coin back in the budget?
Stamp duty is expected to bring in $1.62 billion for the government in 2025-26, with stamp duty waivers for first home buyers on new builds still applying.
So we could be talking $160m plus?

No need to worry about the budget.Booney wrote:Vinnie slashing stamp duty, what tax does he up to get that coin back in the budget?
That went out the window 5 years back.
Borrowings to increase 63% over the next 5 years.
Nett Debt budgeted to increase by 71% over the next 5 years (ie) we're going backwards.
Someone found the money tree (SA are not the only ones)

As long as we don't get to debt levels in Vic it's a case of "she'll be right"
