No Turner on the weekend and made a fair difference to the scoreboard. Be $1.01 for the medal in this competition.YellowSherrin wrote:One close game this week the rest were a bit one sided by the looks
Echunga Vs Gumeracha - looks like Echunga are playing good football and second road trip for Gumeracha this week down South I dont see them getting within 7 goals of Echunga
Meadows Vs Kersbrook - The Dogs got their first win and I reckon this might be closer one as well. I'll go Meadows by 1 goal again
Macclesfield Vs Kangarilla - Did Kangarilla have injuries or outs vs Echunga? If not I'd expect them to bounce back, this should be a great clash and with the home ground advantage I'd say Macclesfield to just get over Kangarilla
Torrens Valley vs Birdwood - probably TVs best chance to push a side, Birdwood struggling with injuries at the moment but I think they will still have enough talent to take care of the lions, Birdwood by 5 goals.

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
Big crowd at Brook Park on Saturday as an old rivalry was reunited that most of the current crop of players wouldn't know about. Was good to have 5 games of footy on arguably the best oval (and perfect conditions) in the Hills and have the Auskickers from both Echunga and Kersbrook represent their clubs during the half time break of the A grade. Even a couple of the older Echunga heads from their A grade stayed out on the oval to watch their little ones play. All games were very competitive, and the day topped off with the annual premiership reunions at Brook Park. Newly drafted Mani Liddy was in attendance celebrating the 10 year reunion of a Kersbrook Junior Colts flag.
The Dees lost a couple during the A grade which aided the Brookers come back victory. Competition looking very even again.

This Comp has had some history created in the past decade with Nairne, Bridgewater and Gumeracha all ending long time premiership droughts.ORDoubleBlues wrote:Definitely shaping up as a good comp in 2025
But when has there ever been Maccelsfield top of the ladder at any point during the season (let alone the mid-season break) in both A and B grade? They currently the top dog and you'd have to go back to Trevor Edwards playing days to see if it's ever happened before!

Could be wrong but was Maccys last flag in the early 70's when the HFL had 4 divisionsORDoubleBlues wrote:It'd be a very long timeCougar wrote:This Comp has had some history created in the past decade with Nairne, Bridgewater and Gumeracha all ending long time premiership droughts.ORDoubleBlues wrote:Definitely shaping up as a good comp in 2025

Maccy last won in 1980 their Centenary year.
B's didn't make the finals in 1980.

That flag was the worst thing that ever happened.Barkeroo wrote:I think Maccy won Div 2 in 1980?
The rules for premiership winners at the time, combined with the fact that a lot of players only came back because it was the Centenary year, meant it wasn't going to be in the club's long term interest to win that flag.
Kym Smith was at Sturt in 1980 and think Brenton was already at Strathalbyn, so they weren't involved

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
Yes I heard the same Meadows Oval for the Grand Final.
Be an interesting round this one. If Macclesfield take care of Kersbrook at home it puts them clear front runners to take home the flag (then it will be interesting to see how they handle the pressure of a 40 plus year drought build up on them - up until now there had been no real expectations from the Hills community)
alternatively Kersbrook get up over Macclesfield and Kersbrook have to be the clear favourites as they would have taken care of the top two most consider contenders in Echunga and Macclesfield
