I was a “Pop” before my 50th and I didn’t think I would be ready for it but she is awesome. Just a pity her parents had a pretty bad split and we are stuck in the middle.wenchbarwer wrote:Lightning McQueen wrote:wenchbarwer wrote:whufc wrote:3 daughters and all horse riders. I refuse to watch them on the horses as my anxiety just feeds through to them and the horse. Thats the partners job.
My daughter has followed her brothers into footy. She's a bit of a rake and I'm not sure I'll ever get used to seeing her get knocked over in a contest.
Or like I have mentioned in another thread, bloody tunneled in the ruck!!!
I'm looking forward to being a Grandparent, it will be easier than parenting. TBH, it's probably the only thing that keeps me going in life, I generally feel like I merely exist!
Yeah, we've all been there, although I'm not quite sure I'm ready to be called "Pop" yet...![]()
Thankfully it does appear to be getting better

Proud Dad moment post…
Our girls competed at the State Gymnastics Championships last weekend and had a very successful competition.
Eldest girl competed in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) in the Level 6 U13 division.
Of the 22 athletes, her results were as follows:
Vault - 6th
Uneven Bars - 5th
Balance Beam - 1st and State Champion
Floor - 4th
All Round - 3rd in the State (bronze medal)
Youngest girl competes in trampolining and was the youngest competitor in Level 4
Individual Trampoline- 3rd in the State (bronze).
Double Mini Trampoline-4th in the state.
They both train incredibly hard, 15 hours/week and 7 hours respectively, and their hard work has paid off with these results.
Also, here’s a photo taken of the eldest competing on the Beam…

I've always been a bit of a Pied Piper, even the shyest kids warm to me, I guess I must look like a cartoon character.
My ex had grandchildren that would follow me around the house when they were over and my current partner has a 2.5 year old that I can hear screaming out my name when I get out of my car and she's inside, I have to sit next to her when we're on the couch or eating dinner and she loves watering my plants when she visits....................I'm ready for my own, it will be the year after next.

I know how that feels! I was 12 weeks at the final rehab step before being cleared to run.MW wrote:dedja wrote:MW wrote:One daughter playing Aussie Rules has had two season ending knee ops and a season ending AC joint. Other daughter playing soccer has had an ankle reconstruction last year. Never gets easier.
I remember you asking about that op, how did it go?
Much longer recovery than expected. the swelling lasted a good 4 months, and she was only really right to go by March (op was August from memory) after getting clearance from the physio. She's back playing again, but not super confident yet you can see her hesitation. It will come with time.
Op in March and got back in time to open the bowling the following cricket season in October. After pretty much 3 straight cricket seasons in the previous 18 months. Being my front bowling foot that cops the punishment I got through it ok despite the hesitation. 11 years on its 95% of what it was. Which is excellent, I'm told, and haven't had to have it looked at since

I'm the same with my daughter being a track rider for a few stables here in Strathalbyn, even when she did pony club I'd get nervous, scares the crap out of me. Have no problems watching the lad race motocross though.
The wife is fine with the daughter riding horses but won't watch the son on the motorbike (or downhill mountain bikes when he did that).

Not sure if I'm going to have the joy of being a grandfather. Daughter is a definite no & the lads girlfriend is more than likely the same. Got plenty of horse/dog/cat grandkids though.

Re: Things that you rate!
The girls in customer service asked if I wanted to join their step challenge team for June...............the name "Red Hot Chilli Steppers".
Pretty good that I'll be in Bali for half the month racking up 20-30K steps each day.

Last year a few of us where dancing on the table in our local when a dude goes up to the bouncer and says "Hey, they can't do that"
Bouncer turns and says "The buy me Bintangs, they can do whatever they want"
There's a joint in Sanur called "Cassablanca", the owner loves us, we invited his family over on the Sunday for a full Babi Goreng spread, we still keep in touch.
They have a game at 5pm on Fridays where you pay $5 and you get unlimited beers for an hour, you have to stand on the dance floor though and anyone that leaves the floor for a piss or takes their phone out then the game stops immediately for everyone.

I'd up the ante on that
Whoever leaves the floor has to buy the drinks for the remaining time for those left on the dance floor

Try getting a European tourist to put their hand in their pocket.
It's a ploy to get people a bit loose hoping they'll hang around for the band or DJ.
They had a cracking Aussie band last time round, they got me up a few times to join in, huge night, I laid low the next day when I checked my bank account, we had a tab for the night and I picked it up at the end of the night, there were 7 of us plus a few drinks for the security fellas.................we were there for about 8 hours.
