Yep, I’ve pretty much lived off 5hrs sleep since I was a kid. Thankfully I get very good uninterrupted sleep. Generally go to bed around midnight and get up at 5:30 with no alarm clock. My wife is the opposite and is the lightest sleeper I know, she is in bed by 10pm and gets up 2 times per night for the toilet and can’t have even a sliver of light in the room. She has even resorted to sleeping with one of those aircraft eye masks and is on sleeping tablets. Me on the other hand can sleep in full light and we once had a car dumped outside our house and set on fire, I didn’t even hear the explosion and wife had to kick me to wake upwhufc wrote:I generally have a coffee as a night cap. Coffee at 8pm...bed by 8:30pm asleep by 9pm.
Alarm goes off at 4:20am but generally wake up just before. On a few occasions recently have woken and grabbed my phone to see 4:19am.
Not surprised by a connection with ADHD, caffeine and my ability to not be affected by it.![]()

My brother is worse than me. Once he was home by himself and his daughter, and was woken at 1am by police knocking on his bedroom window with the flashlight. Turns out his daughter had been crying throughout the night and he didnt wake up to it but it took the neighbours to ring the cops worried about what was happening in his house.

One of our executives who travels a lot, gets on a plane and goes straight to sleep, told us of a story recently how the plane had landed and everyone had departed the plane and the crew had to wake him up to get off

I can't sleep on a plane, tried staying up all day for a 1am flight from Bali and still failed, despite having an afternoon session.

Re: Things that you rate!
Worked with a bloke that was notorious for napping at afternoon smoko.
One day we all cleared out of the lunch room, after winding forward the clock a few hours. We all hid, and watched as he finally woke up, looked at the clock which was showing about an hour after knock off, and he raced to the carpark, only to come back in about 10 minutes when he realised what we'd done!

I did comment to her one day that if her effin ears worked as well as they do at night when talking to me then we would never have an argument. That went down like the Hindenburg

Im the same, I tried on a recent flight to Perth and actually drifted off but each time my head fell forward I thought the plane was going down so that was the end of it.

as much as i can sleep in a bed easily enough, i need perfect conditions in a plane but I found neck pillow and noise cancelling headphones are the best method. managed 4 hours on my last overnight flight which is as best as I have ever done. Cattle class of course.

I’m usually the same, can’t sleep on flights. However one time flying out of Beijing I nodded off (about 10 beers deep on boarding) as the plane was taxiing out and still on the tarmac. Woke up 3 hours into the flight.

Thankfully no International cattle class for us in nearly 15 years so into bed mode, quite a few vodkas and nap for a few hours.MW wrote:as much as i can sleep in a bed easily enough, i need perfect conditions in a plane but I found neck pillow and noise cancelling headphones are the best method. managed 4 hours on my last overnight flight which is as best as I have ever done. We were going back over some of our old travel documents, photos, tickets etc and worked out that it’s nearly 80 International business flights each so no wonder we can’t retire yet!

Yeah i did the same for a flight to LA.
Flight was roughly around 5-6am in the morning. Stayed up the entire night knowing i wouldn't be able to sleep on the plane.
Got once we got on the plane in Sydney for the big stint to LA tried to go to sleep.
Didnt sleep a single second on the plane. Landed in LA roughly around 7am off no sleep. Got a second wind and did some sight seeing ect.
We had tickets to the LA Lakers vs Houstan Rockets that night, went along. Houston scored the first 18 points of the game, was very one sided and i fell to sleep in my seat at 3/4 time for the wife at the time to wake me at the final buzzer.

Re: Things that you rate!
Working up here in Clare and an older gentleman who comes to the gem semi regularly and i always chat about life and stuff (sometimes the conversations end up pretty deep) came in to use the centre on his occasion wearing a 'different' looking college sports cap.
Asked him which team it is as i take a lose interest in college football and love all the crazy nicknames / atmosphere ect
Anyways tells me its South Carolina and gives me a brief of his interest in their basketball program. Anyway i then asked if he followed the local NBL... and he casually amongst his sentences drops that his recently become a part owner of the Perth Wildcats. Thinking his probably just big noting himself and talking rubbish..........we get a few of them i didnt think much of it.
So he goes in the gym and whilst he does that i do a quick google search.....ends up his Bill Bloking who yes is a part owner of the wildcats haha.
He comes out so i chat further about it with him.......in the end he reckons his going to hook me and the partner up with some decent seats when they come play the 36ers this year.

The Australian motocross community. So far have raised $300,000 for the pregnant wife of the guy who died at Gillman a couple of weeks ago. He was a privateer rider who had a youtube channel to fund his love of racing & one of the most popular guys on the circuit.
