Roosters poaching Bloods

do you know how many from those teams (mainly the 05 teams) are playing league and ressies now at your club? heard there were rumblings from parents/players about all the recruits coming in....some have gone off to other sanfl/ammo clubs.

I reckon that's just a side effect of success Jimmy.

Same happened at the dogs and I assume every other successful club in recent times - players get frustrated at a perceived lack of opportunities and go elsewhere.

true, good point. One person I know who was affected by this at north probably wasnt going to make the league side anyway. Still though, it must be a concern for all clubs.

It's all good and well to have really good juniors but far too many can never translate their talent into consistent performances at senior level. Any of the really good ones go on to AFL footy. To rely solely on juniors is a big risk as all West supporters should be well aware.

damn agree again I think as far as juniors go you just have to look how many from the Under 19 comp actually turn into half decent League or AFL players, there is the occasional exception but not many. Has been the problem since as long as I can remember

In the lastfew years we have produced 3
Blake Wegener (ended up at the river this year)
Glenn Dundovic (ended up in Darwin and Vic Country)
Sam McDonald (Plated first 2 or 3 games this year and then struggled with form)

Would be interesting to list the 20 U/17's V the 20 U/19's

I think that is where the aguement comes in about dropping the 19's going to 18's and maybe 16's or 17's

Thanks for that Wedgie, think that my point is backed up by those names, there are quite a few in there (U19's) that to my knowledge have never even made it to league footy and I don't think any have made it as far as AFL. Bit worried about that Westies guy in 2005, brother or something
