Re: Southern Football League
Porties beat PHOS Camden by a few points at St Marys. Scores were something like 9-13 to 9-9. A PHOS lad missed a very gettable shot after the siren to win the game. The wind really sprung up in the 2nd half which spoiled the contest a bit. Porties had alot of young lads out there which was good to see.
I've said this on other threads and I will say it again here. It's amazing how many injured and unavailable players are all of a sudden a bonafide A grade player when they miss a trial. I've heard one club supposedly having 15 missing on Saturday (despite winning). So basically they are saying only 6 of their Saturday team will play Round 1 if everyone is fit. Pull the other one!!

Re: Southern Football League
You think that all A graders are putting their hands up for the first trial of the year? That no-one has work/cricket/other commitments?
To clarify my earlier comments, Flagstaff were missing 6 players from their GF team, only including those whose are confirmed for 2025. On top of that they had two new players not play, one a recruit who's a rep, zone and country state team player, the other a returning dual premiership CHF and rep & zone player.

Re: Southern Football League
I wasn't talking about either club I was reporting about. It was what I heard about another AdFL club but it gets rather tiresome because we hear it every year. Saturday wouldn't have been the 1st trial for many clubs and for many it was only the 1st trial due to the heat from the week before. Round 1 for AdFL and SFL is only 2 weeks away so you can't tell me an A grader is not putting their hand up if they are available particularly as some clubs won't trial next week.

Re: Southern Football League
Fair enough, I clarified my numbers above. If you played finals or a GF the year before, a better way to say it would be to say how many from that side are missing.Down the Hill wrote:I wasn't talking about either club I was reporting about. Re: Southern Football League
Word from Noarlunga u17s trial vs Willunga today was that Noarlunga were down to 15 players. Willunga a plethora of numbers. Apparently the Willunga boys on the bench were keen to chuck on a Noarlunga guernsey to make it 18 v 18 again with Noarlunga supporting the idea but the Willunga coach basically said get stuffed and played 15 v 15 with about 10 sitting on the pine. Pretty average behaviour IMO...it's only a trial game. Good to see Cove supporting Noarlunga as well by lending 5-6 players for the day.

Think it's an agreement now between Cove & Noarlunga, the excess u17 players each week from Cove will go play for the Shoes.
Flaggies were pretty comfortable over Blackwood in a trial on Saturday, margin was about 5 goals, led at all breaks, probably could/should have been a larger result. 5 from their GF team were unavailable, I know Blackwood didn't have Baker.

Ironbank and Lonsdale had an excellent hit out on Friday night. Great setup at IBwenchbarwer wrote:Some coaches have rocks in their heads...shobtop1 wrote:Word from Noarlunga u17s trial vs Willunga today was that Noarlunga were down to 15 players. The Falcons game could be an ugly one. 100 point win on the table first round.

Re: Southern Football League
I heard a similar story from the Yank v Aldinga U17's where Yank were short and Aldinga had a few spares but they didn't play for Yank to even up numbers on the field.shobtop1 wrote:Word from Noarlunga u17s trial vs Willunga today was that Noarlunga were down to 15 players. Yeah, probably won't be pretty. Smaller oval, lovely day, goal umpires could end up with RSIHappytowatchlocal wrote:The Falcons game could be an ugly one. 100 point win on the table first round.

Re: Southern Football League
That's crap, and a bit out of character for the Sharks. They know what it's like to be with low numbers, bit weird...DoublebluTiger wrote:I heard a similar story from the Yank v Aldinga U17's where Yank were short and Aldinga had a few spares but they didn't play for Yank to even up numbers on the field.shobtop1 wrote:Word from Noarlunga u17s trial vs Willunga today was that Noarlunga were down to 15 players. Not accurate , NFC had 2 on bench, Cove did supply 5-6 players.shobtop1 wrote:Word from Noarlunga u17s trial vs Willunga today was that Noarlunga were down to 15 players. Looking at the team lists for both senior grades, I'm predicting a combined loss of 250+ pointsHappytowatchlocal wrote:The Falcons game could be an ugly one. 100 point win on the table first round.
