Some bloody good games of footy on the weekend especially the Sunday. One of the better weekends of footy in a long time.

One thing that has stood out to me is how many of these young lads can come into the AFL and be ready to go in their first year. It seems so much more common than in previous generations. Obviously just an observation with no statistical data.

Blokes like Daicos, Sheezel, Ashcroft just chewing up AFL footy from season one.

Even this year blokes like Dewar, Finn O'Sullivan, Levi Ashcroft, Davidson, Kako, Murphy come in and immediately be able to impact a game.

So took the 6-year-old daughter to her first ever AFL game. Port won comfortably as expected but the tiger supporting daughter took that fairly well and we had a great day out.

Sat in the southeastern pocket something like section 330 and was a great little atmosphere. In our immediate surrounds would have been a split of 70/30 Port/Richmond and the banter was perfect all day, always with a hint of humor and on the gentle side. The daughter thought a few comments were crackers that got a genuine belly laugh from her.

The misses and I had a free ticket to see the Crows/Saints the week before and i must say Port do the 'pre game' entrance theater a trillion times better. The atmosphere from when Port got into the race until the first siren was electric....well done.

Anyways was a great experience and the daughter is already talking about when can we go see the Tigs at one of their home games.

In my previous job I had to host our company's corporate box each game and yes, the atmosphere pre-game on a Saturday night Port game was electric, it would have to be a huge leg up, the GABBA seems to have a decent feel to it too, I wouldn't mind getting up there for a game.

Gutsy win. Poor kicking at goal made it hard.

Ladhams played his best game. Bice looks like a genuine talent. The Chad was exceptional. Good to see cox get a win.

The stadium itself is a ****hole - the sooner it is knocked down, the better. Been there a few times in the Lions admin & training areas underneath when Noble was still there (before they moved a few years ago) & it is no wonder they struggled to attract players. The stadium is very outdated, however atmosphere wise it is good.

Correct, couldn't defend between the arcs last week, noticed in the first 5 mins yesterday that the coaches had fixed that, very pleasing.

Shattered I cant go this Sunday. :(
