Given that's not how the ASCA works you might as well liken it to playing a tie breaker in the 5th set.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Point being more that a week off might actually hurt that side in the last regular season game of the year..... then they go into finals out of form etc etc etc.

At country/ammo level you can't get too caught up in the semantics of it all too much. You could make a case going to the pub this Saturday drinking 1300 beers, a pack of ciggies, a few nose beers, losing this weeks income on the horses and ending up at the 'toolshed on Hindley until 4am isn't the ideal preparation versus actually playing the game.

ICC Sharks putting all their player profiles to private - that may be the most pathetic, juvenile thing I’ve ever seen.

They have all been added as ‘Fill In’ on PlayHQ. I’d say as Coromandel wanted to live score but the Sharks hadn’t uploaded their team before the game starts. It’s actually another PlayHQ issue as the opposition can’t access a list of opposition players in the live score portal unless they are allocated to that particular team.

Yeah, when I last checked before the start of today's play ICC still hadn't entered a team and Coro live scored today.

That makes sense, didn’t even think of that last night haha!

Definitely a frustration of PlayHQ having to have players allocated to teams to select.

Wonder if ASCA treasurer will enforce the fine for not selecting a team

Looking at playhq there appears to be some good finals played over the weekend

Yeah have been on the phone to Phil Davis this morning trying to fix the issue because ICC didnt enter a team and it was live scored. More difficult to fix than you would think. The game itself on PlayHQ is stuffed, so Phil has created a new one.

Good luck to all clubs in their respective GF’s this week. Would love someone to do one of those write up previews we used to get back in the day on here!

Congratulations must go to Coromandel, who have bucked the trend, and had 3 of their 5 teams make it to the big dance.
Their fifth XI are the lowest grade of any club to make a GF, in section 8.

Mitchell Park are the only other club to have multiple teams playing on the last weekend, with their As & Bs in sections 2 & 5 respectively. They also share the relegation points with Plympton, with both club's having 2 going down a section next season, of course unless the usual lala from other clubs happens.

The uneveness of our association can be seen now, with 66% of grand finalists being either Furst or Second XIs.
2 A grade teams playing off in section 6 is, in my opinion, ridiculous.

The lower sections always catch my attention, and the Adelaide Lutheran II v Plympton III section 9 game is my pick of the game's to watch.
I saw ALII in person last Saturday, and if their opening bowler, who bowled 15 straight cannot break through to at least the middle order, the Tregenza & Wilde families could have an absolute day out.

Section 1 neighbour's up at Coromandel Valley will be a cracker, and I'm not brave enough to select a winner.
Section 2 sees my club take on our neighbours, so I'm not saying anything here.
Section 3. Southern pulled off somewhat of an upset to take on the Phantoms. The Kreigs hold the key for PHOS, but the underdog Southern have nothing to lose. I'll take the underdog, and see Southern in section 2 next season, until they say they've lost players.

Moe....

Plympton are way too good for Sect 9..

They will smash Lutheran.

Most of them are last years Sect 4 side... should not be in that Section at all..

Bruise free cricket.

Mitchell Park or Morphy Pk will finally get their long awaited wish to get into SEct 1... good luck to all teams

Tips

Sec 1: Local derby, could be fiery. Ramblers going for a 4 peat for the first time since the early 90s? I'm tipping an upset for Coromandel to get their first div 1 flag since 1954/55. Highlights for the game will be lost balls in the creek. Hopefully no 5 run penalties awarded by the umpires for any sledging. Could make a difference.

Sec 2: After parties will be good at both clubs. Morphies to break their hoodoo aslong as Vozey makes runs

Sec 3: Southern do alright for a small club at serpentine. Phantoms have acouple of guns who need to do everything. Tipping that to occur.

Sec 4: Coromandel have done well for a C Grade to get there. Grand Masters captain will need to score bulk runs on a large oval. Home side to get there just I think.

Sec 5: Lutheran in a canter. You'll spot Mitchell Park drowning sorrows at the Marion on Monday.

Sec 6: Morphett Vale will be to large for South Park who like playing on a postage stamp. Hopefully the locals aren't to vocal.

Sec 7: North Haven easily

Sec 8: Both have good sides. Tipping it to go to the last 2 overs.

Sec 9: The real cricket is played here. Be nice for Plympton to have success given their struggles in recent years. Tipping there will be a few red cans drunk afterwards.

Quite a few during the game as well if the season proper is any indication.

Watched a bit of this comp over the last couple of years, one thing that has stood out for me is 40+yo men who are still chasing individual glory while the youngsters of the team bat 8,9,10,11 and rarely bowl.

Some are from last years section 4 side because Plympton had bugger all players for B grade, so the C grade became the B grade.
They just went back to C grade this year

Kenilworth looking for clubs to merge with.
It rarely works.. Hamilton an example.
To be honest why would you want to merge with them anyway...

Yeah, no thanks.

The teams that have home grounds in the parklands should just make up a league of their own.
Then they can all just abolish the LBW rule altogether, smash boundaries on their postage stamp ovals and then all go back to the one clubroom

New season just around the corner.

How are clubs shaping up?

Any thought to just a one-day only division for this season?

Coro are entering 6 senior teams and 3 T20 teams.

The voting on the motions was interesting last night - all major ones failing. Cannot fathom the push for Section 1 to be 60 overs. Go play Section 2 if you dont want to play 75 over cricket.

Should ICC be allowed to go down just because they’ve lost a few? Happens every year. Looks like more and more clubs are wanting to take the easy way out.

Looking forward to see the new faces on the Exec and how they can improve the comp and bring it into the 21st century. Great to see some new representation.

Good effort by Coromandel getting 6 teams up. Great junior program up there.
No, ICC should not be allowed the easy route, no club should. It's a weak solution. They were quite happy to accept a heap of Aldinga players a few years back, which decimated that club.

I'm still of the opinion that section's 1-4 should be all club's A grade teams, and not have some clubs first XI hiding down in section's 5-9
