You might be thinking 14 Feb 2004 which is the day I mentioned a page or two back. My research has brought up the hottest day every year since 1888 and Valentines Day in 2004 was definitely a Saturday. The table I found rounds off to the nearest degree so it says 44 but from memory it got to 44.3. Pretty sure the heat policy came in the following season.

Some good comments above about all the circumstances that can lead to being overcome from heat and it’s clearly not as simple as the forecast temperature. Similar to Bedge’s comments about certain factors others than extreme heat can also come into play. The worst I ever felt due to heat was a day at Pooraka where despite the temp being 37/38, it was humid with absolutely no breeze and was no fun at all.

Heat Policies involve plenty of warnings about hydration, both in days prior and on game day, including extra drink breaks. If you're not drinking water during daylight hours because you choose to take part in Ramadan then it doesn't matter what temperature you make the heat policy. Commonsense would suggest you either drink fluids on a hot day or don't play.

Very sad for those involved with the man who lost his life.

If I'm this man's captain and I know he's fasting he's not playing in that heat.
This isn't a crack at anyone because ultimately it's the player who says he's good to go, just highlighting the fact the heat policy isn't a cure-all.
Sad for all involved and hopefully we learn a bit from this tragic event.

Maybe start with something simple. LO grades or One Dayers. 38o+ game becomes a T20.

Doesn't matter the circumstances. This tragic event is going to trigger a review of the policy regardless. I know in the UK that when it takes place during their season, they advise players not to play during warm conditions. I believe next year Ramadan is due to begin in February.

I can recall a previous time someone passed away on the field in warm conditions, The temperature wasn't even close to the temperatures specified in the policy in place at the time.

Yep I reckon you are right, I was guessing the late 90's but now you said it was valentines day that rings a bell and also that the heat policy came in the next season.

There is no perfect solution, if anything good comes out of this then hopefully team mates will check in on each other a bit more when they don't look 100% and take precautionary action.

Correct Heater. You might be referring to a big bloke from I think it was Para Hills who was playing a game on Flinders No. 3. I was padded up waiting to bat on Flinders No.1 at the time and saw it unfold. It was definitely after the Heat Policy had come in and from memory the forecast for that day was 36/37 but it was one of those days where a cool change was coming thru and the heat peaked quite early in the day i.e. the temp even before play started was more like a day where it would climb above 40. So that's another example of certain circumstances rather than just relying on a number.

Flinders Park are apparently appealing. PlayHQ currently has A2 final as Reynella v TBD

Thomas should win A1 but wouldn’t be surprised if Winter-Irving wins, umpires pet and less teammates taking votes from him.

Didn't the Flinders Park player do something wrong?

ATCA need to move a lot quicker. The same thing happened last year in A1 when Aaron Sayers was sùspended in round 10. The resulting point deduction meant Grange missed finals, so they appealed. The appeal wasn't finalised until late Friday .... less than 24 hours before finals started.

Yep agree, this definitely should’ve been sorted last week, but unfortunately lawyers are involved.

Feel for both SPOC & Walkerville who won’t know where or if they are playing until tomorrow night.

Seems to be a growing unwillingness from certain clubs to accept the umpire's decision.

Someone reported you (umpire, opposition, spectator, etc).
A review of written submissions assesses the facts and if guilty, you got offered a penalty, you didn't accept.
You then have a face to face hearing, and if guilty you get handed a penalty, you once again didn't accept.
You then take it to a tribunal.

3 different people have assessed that your behaviour isn't what it should be, and you've failed to accept the penalty time and time again.

Tribunals don't come together overnight, as they are so rare, it is not like there are people on standby ready to go. They need to be different to the people that undertook the written, and the face-to-face phases, which doesn't leave many volunteers available to undertake the process.

The problem is club's unwillingness to accept the result of their player's misbehaviour.

If anything, I'd be in favour of ATCA moving to cut out the tribunal option. You get an offer of a penalty based on written submissions, if you don't accept it, you go to a face to face hearing. That's it. That's your 'appeal' so to speak. The fact ATCA allows a third round is potentially too generous.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Ridiculous situation.
As a batter I want to know who I'm facing so I can prepare accordingly.
24 hours before the game makes it bloody hard to prepare.
And I'm assuming bowlers want to know who your bowling at.

If you can't accept the umpires decision and you get reported and then appeal the decision, it gets dismissed double the penalty.
It's not good enough to not know your opponent in a knockout final until the day before.
