Westies in the womens.

Undefeated so far and with matches abandoned vs Smithfield and Eastern Park, possible cancellation of week 2 this round aswell against Eastern Park.

Eastern Park who managed to start the season in Grade 2 then were brought up have played 2 more games than Westies and have Smithfield in the last round could quite easily snare the minor premiership, always dangerous for the lower placed team come GF day.

Could be a very interesting finish to the season if weather doesn't affect finals.

If Westies face Angle Vale in the semi it will certainly throw a spanner into the works as they are still the best two sides IMO.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Virginia toppled Hazara in a semi, they have 5 or 6 batsmen that could go big on any given day, Bas and Nato can still rip through a line-up in the right conditions and the small Hausler Reserve could well see them post something huge.

On side note, Westies 9/183, end up 256, it just never ends out there.

Hazara finish with Westies + Angle Vale, so still could be some movement, but could also really solidify Hazara's chances this year.

In other news, has Sutton Derby pulled the pin? Don't think they've played since before xmas... don't they know the season is October until March not October until December?

Really think PDCA should consider being tougher on entry to the comp - I remember when looked to join, we were asked if he had juniors or women and our plans to form those teams, did we have grounds and were we a stable club as well as a list of players that we had and make sure we weren't taking any from other clubs etc. before clubs voted on whether to accept us.

Perhaps that's occurred with other new teams since then, but Sutton Derby were a rabble last year in A&SCA, why would you grant them a lifeline?

The other thing that sort of irritates me but less so are teams that play under a clubs banner but don't appear to assimilate e.g. PGCC Titans & PGCC Thunderwolves. It's great to help facilitate that and to provide a place for mates to play - but long term how does it help a club?

Couldnt agree more. Yes you might get a little increase over the bar and maybe even at some clubs there is a hiring fee of the oval to go with the inclusion of the name but ultimately these set ups always seem to fail.

Remember Eastern Park Soccer / Northern Wolves/ Elizabeth East / Andrews Farm Soccer now have had a lot of these type (b grades who came as their own team) over the last 25 years and as might be the sheer amount of name changes its never been sustainable at one place.

Hopefully Sutton Derby have paid their $2k bond which they were supposed to be on. Bill them for all their outstanding fines. That with the bond would be about $3k. Don't just put it into general funds but use it to directly benefit the clubs.eg balls or other equipment.
Closed teams within a club doesn't work, but it is one way of getting around the entry process. If a team comes they need to know that the players will play where selected. They may still have 2 or 3 playing together but not 11. As the teams mentioned aren't the club's bottom teams how do they get around that you can only be dropped one club grade at a time?

The top two teams going down seen Westies leapfrog them to occupy top spot on the table. Dylan Wilson scoring 65 and 100 against Hazara has seen him move to 2nd on the batting list, he has now scored 461 runs since the break at an average of 115.25, brilliant effort.

The run home:
Westies 118.70: Hazara (H), North Pines (A).
Hazara 114.25: Westies (A), Angle Vale (A).
Angle Vale 112.97: Craigmore ((A), Hazara (H).
Virginia 84.95: Eyre Royals (A), Craigmore (H).

Eyre Royals 69.22: Virginia (H), ATCO (A).
Craigmore 68.90: Angle Vale (H), Virginia (A).
ATCO 50.78: North Pines (A), Eyre Royal (H).
North Pines 45.51: ATCO (H), Westies (A).

Not much change to happen from what I see, only Angle Vale to swap places with Hazara.

North Pines really limping to the finish. Club is going through a tough period after bit of success not that long ago.

Their juniors are elite, but seems they don't keep them into seniors - they head off and play grade cricket or Adelaide turf.

Seniors don't seem like they're very well organised or have much support since Travis Perris left and Mark Fiddock lesser involvement.

Speaking of North Pines, giggled Saturday night a little when I heard one of our U14 kids bowled the LO6 leading run scorer Kilpatrick early in the innings... only to have the umpire who was allegedly the batsman's dad call a front foot no ball a few seconds later.

Kilpatrick went on to make 65.

1) 21 rounds is a ridiculously long season! Glad i'm not in that comp!
2) Those **** from Units are gonna pull a Houdini and make the finals AND probably win it!

I was thinking the same thing yesterday.

How weird Grade 2 having a bye while every other grade played?

37 off one over with the ball isn't great

Lucky he bowled, otherwise they might've only been chasing 100 and been done in 10 overs... and no century. 8)

I wonder how many North Pines players played A's the week before? The forfeited week two.

They didn't forfeit day 2, it was outright in one day.

We had Dave umpire us this weekend, he was saying that Pines were 5/0 in the first innings after the first over. Surely we would have heard more about that if true! If it is, then boy thats must be the best over in Grade 1 history.

Finals in LO1 are Definity tightening up. Centrals make it from here you think. Tough game for whoever finishes top in the minor rounds.

Wrong.. they were 7 down overnight day 1, pulled the pin mid week for day 2 and conceded the outright.

We were asked if we would like to play at Virginia after the Grade 1 game, initially we were supposed to play at Riverbank, and Dave was going to umpire.

North Pines pulled out, we played normal time at Virginia and Dave went to your game.
