How a chick travelling 100km p/h over the speed limit cause an accident that kills someone and then walks away from it while high on meth is likely to get away with it due to being non-coherent of her actions at the time.

If you choose to take something illegal and then drive a vehicle you should be held responsible for your actions.

I'll never fathom these findings/rulings or form of defence.

I find a lot of the outcomes we see from the court system to be hard to accept.
Just about anything is an excuse these days for not taking responsibility and accountability for your own actions.
Hard upbringing, mental health, on drugs, etc.
All these 'justifications' designed to let people get off.

I can accept there are people out there with limited mental capacity to comprehend that what they've done isn't acceptable, and therefore it's not appropriate to punish them. But for mine, all the judgements these days seem to focus on the reasons why we shouldn't punish someone, and ignore the other side of the equation. There is a requirement to protect society. Locking people up is a punishment yes, but removing those that are a danger to society is also a required element of the court system.
Sure, it may mean gaol isn't the right spot for everyone, but for mine you still need to remove people from general society if they are a danger to others, irrespective if that danger was a conscious decision, or as a result of some other factor that limited their understanding of what they were doing at the time.

She claimed that a security guard was chasing her.

It's a natural paranoia when on meth. same as the truck driver that mowed down cops in the Richard Pusey accident.

Yep, agreed. No excuses whatsoever

IT can be a reason for their actions, but it cant be an excuse, courts seem to get these mixed up too much these days

W11 popped up on my screen just now offered as an upgrade from W10, but there was a button allowing me to decline the "upgrade".

My wife's W11 laptop has put me off. It tries to push you into using the Microsoft apps like Outlook and Word, and the MS on line backup system. We had a bit of trouble working out how to turn some of those pushes off.

I like to choose my own software preferences.

It’s a bit of a strange situation … some people on Win10 are pissed off that they can’t move to 11 because of TPM 2.0 and other hardware restrictions, whilst others have Win11 capable devices but don’t want to upgrade.

Here you go: brought to you by AI

Many people dislike Windows 11 primarily due to its strict hardware requirements, which prevent older computers from upgrading, a perceived lack of significant new features compared to Windows 10, a redesigned Start Menu that some find less user-friendly, and initial concerns about performance and stability, especially when it was first released; essentially, feeling like a "forced" upgrade with minimal added benefit for many users.

Key reasons why people dislike Windows 11:

Strict Hardware Requirements:
Windows 11 needs a relatively new CPU and a TPM 2.0 chip to install, meaning many older computers cannot upgrade, causing frustration for users with perfectly functional machines.

Minimal New Features:
Some users feel Windows 11 doesn't offer enough substantial new features compared to Windows 10, making the upgrade seem unnecessary.

Start Menu Changes:
The redesigned Start Menu in Windows 11 is often criticized for being less intuitive and harder to navigate than the Windows 10 version.

Performance Concerns:
Early versions of Windows 11 experienced performance issues, with some users reporting slower speeds or glitches.

Forced Microsoft Account:
Users are required to sign in with a Microsoft account to use Windows 11, which can be a privacy concern for some.

Aesthetic Changes:
While some appreciate the visual update, others find the new design too simplistic or jarring.

02 number rings

02 number rings

10 seconds later

02 number rings
kids say "pick your phone up dad and answer the call"
I ignore

02 number rings
I answer

Them "*my name*, it's *name* from ANZ bank, I'm calling from the Falcon team at ANZ bank, we are ringing to say we've had suspicious behaviour from your card beginning in xxxx xxx (which was correct). Can I confirm that you are in Australia? Have you booked a hotel in Cyprus?"

Me "I'm at home and no, i haven't booked anything overseas in the past 24 hours or so."

Them "at home at xxx?" (incorrectly named my street number, but street name and suburb was correct)

Me "Yes, that's correct, although the number is not x, it's y"

Them "sorry I misread, thankyou. Please be aware that our calls are recorded for training purposes. So can I confirm you have not made a booking at Zen hotels in Cyprus? If so, I will put an immediate block on your card".

Me "That's right, I did not buy anything in Cyprus."

Them "Ok I will block your card. You will be provided a new card. But that will take 5-7 days. If you need a card immediately, we can do that but in order to do so, we'll need to link it to Apple, Google or PayPal. Do you want to do this, if so we can walk you through how to do this. If not, we can send you a new card through the post".

Me "I'm fine, I can do without it till I get a new card"

Them "Great, in order to issue you a new card I need to confirm some details with you. What we'll do is send a statement to your email account (reads email account and it's correct!) What's the last 8 digits on the card?"

Me "Hmm. (read out last 8 digits, hackles going up)"

Them "And what's the expiry and CVV"

Me - hangs up.

Got one phone call after this and nothing since.

Be careful peeps!

Summary : This person knew my address, phone, email and most of my card details!

I had a similar experience recently when a scammer greeted me by name:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12663&p=2693760#p2693760

Optus and Medibank have a lot to answer for.

You might want to hold and/or replace your card anyway, since it has obviously been compromised.
