I'm sure most of us have some time off over the xmas/ny period. I'm happy to arrange something at Royal West Lakes if we can get a commitment from enough of us

Im in Adelaide from Dec 24th til Dec 29th. If it falls in there?

Twilight at Flaggy was ok, but distracted with the horse race. BUT I had a decent crack at 2 drives and launched them.... It could be back.
Valhalla back at golf studio This morning. The Driver performed solidly. It could be back. Find out tomorrow. Still had a few bad shots. Overall I felt I hit the ball ok. Had an 84 off stick with my 25 sim hcp which is now 2.8 after the 2 rounds

First drive - down the middle and Par. Driver was in great form. Sliced one on the 18th, only noticeable error for the day.
Irons were good
Short game was solid
Putting was brilliant except for the 1st. Eagle chip narrowly missed and then 3 putted On the 3rd, had a long par putt and it was in, but the devil stuck his hand up and pushed my ball out....it defied gravity
43 pts and 78 off the stick

Good scoring! Is 78 off stick a PB?
I reckon it is.

Had originally planned to have a hit yesterday with a mate, on his home track in Sunbury. He had to pull the pin, so I decided to venture up to Kilmore.
Been over here 8 years, never been to Kilmore before. The place had crossed my mind as a potential retirement spot, has a few things I am interested in.... Golf Course, race track, pubs etc.
Pulled into the carpark at 7.45am. First car there, no one in the pro shop either. Just as I was putting some cash in the envelope for the honesty box, and old dear rolled in. She said to hit off the 10th, as the water is on the front 9.
The 10th, is a gentle down hill 145m par 3. On a side note, I am recovering from a kidney stone at the moment, so planned to play well within myself. So 3 quarter swing with the 6 iron, pin high right. Chip up close. Par. The 10th green was awful, the white cockies/corella or whatever they are called had made a mess of it. Digging holes. I was fearful that all the greens may be the same. Sadly about 6 or 7 were not great. The others though were pretty good, rolled at a good speed.
The 11th is a sharp dogleg left, not that I could tell from the tee. This was the first of a number of blind tee shots. Not great if its your first time, without a local in toe. Bogey 5.
12th up hil Par 3 - blocked it left with a 3 iron. Double bogey the result. 13th, short-ish downhill par 4. In good enough position off the tee with a 3 wood. Bogey though. 14th another short par 4, slightly up hill. 3 wood into position and pulled the 9 iron left of the green. Good chip, and made the putt. Par.
15th, a narrow par 5, that I thought doglegged left, it actually went the other way. 1 putt led to another Par. 16th was a dogleft left, I had a view of the hole earlier. Stealth deployed, and I wanted to shave the trees down the left, as anything right would run out of fairway. Hit it well, 90 meters in. Gap wedge leaks right. Poor chip and 2 putts for Double after being in the mayors office!
17th down hill par 3, bogey. 18th, short (254m) uphill par 4, but from my view on the tee, anything that hits the fairawy will run off to the left, down the slope. Bugger it, Stealth deployed, down the right with a hint of draw. Pin high, chip up, missed the bird... Par.
So 9 holes played in about 90 minutes. The front 9 was quite a bit hillier, it was also getting a bit warm by now, and the bloody flies were relentless. Not to mention the old kidney was giving me grief. I was basically having a piss on every tee block. The first is a gentle par 4 back up a hill, made par. The 2nd another Par 4, 380 odd, to a small green a top a hill. Good drive but overhit it to the back. Tough up & down. First 3 putt for the day - Triple Bogey. Made up for it on the next hole - 400 M Par 4 - Stealth deployed to good affect. Mid iron to heart of the green. 2 Putt Par. Bogey on the Par 5, 5th hole, followed by a poor double bogey on the 6th. Was starting to struggle a bit now. The heat, the kidney, was taking my time between shots to recover. The 7th was a nice little uphill par 3, 7 iron caught the right edge of the green. The cockies had been digging holes in this green, and my putt richoched off one of them. Bogey. The 8th was a great little par 4, down hill 270m, slight dogleg to the right. Bunker on the corner was the line off the tee. 3 wood comes up just short, leaving gap wedge in. Caught in thin, over the back. Double. The final hole, strong par 4 back up another ******* hill. Drive leaked right, had to chop out, then pitched up. 3 putt Double.
Overall the course itself had some nice holes, however it wasn't in great shape. I'd rate it as just an ok country track.
As far as Kilmore goes as a retirement location. Pass.

A 280m stealth drive on the uphill par 4 at 254, add a few yards for uphill. I feel I may have understated it. And a 268m 3wood...... on the 270m slightly downhill.
All with 1/2 swings and battling the kidney....
That's 2 decent hits. I'd struggle to get 280m hitting along the tarmac at the airport

The 3 wood came up just short of the fairway bunker not the green. About 210.
Was taking full swings after the first few holes too.

My driver battles to get 210m. Still good hits

Did you get in?
I'm doing the Royal & Glenelg double in January.

Looks like you'll only have 17 holes at the Glenelg day, 8 and 9 will be out with 19th in from the 6th Jan, redevelopment strikes again. Doing 8-9 together with 6-7 after that it should be done next year finally. Played with a couple of guys yesterday at the Grange day and it came up.
Speaking of, I've never seen Grange in such bad condition, greens were terrible. Lots of work needed to get it ready for LIV.
mighty_tiger_79 wrote:Playing grange Friday. I'm not it's biggest fan....
At flaggy a few guys Playing Glenelg open day thought the rennos had finished.
We played west yesterday. The fairways and course in general were fine, grand stands were starting to go up so the watering hole was out of play and a couple of short tee blocks. The non LIV hole greens were the worst I've seen, the LIV greens were better. Hopefully east is better for you guys.
Nope 5 holes still to go. 15,16,17 opened a couple of weeks back and they are letting 19 have a break. We thought they were going to leave it until after LIV with the money the visitors are paying, obviously not.
8-9 together should take about 3-4 months. 10th will play a bit shorter at some point as there is heaps being done with the 9th green.
6-7 together another 3 months after that then the first after that. Will be this time next year when its finally finished.
mighty_tiger_79 wrote:What prices you charging during LIV?? RA going up to $435....
$400 i think. People have paid it the other years so they keep pushing it up. The other clubs make a decent amount out of LIV, Glenelg made something like 80K last year.

Vines Front 9 tonight, pretty average golf again, got 19 points with lots of scrambling, 5 x 1 putts made the difference, missed every fairway off the tee.
