Playing local footy on Gather Round weekend only adds to the spectacle in my view.
There’s plenty of ways to leverage local footy to make Gather Round even bigger.
Having to miss weeks due to Easter and then Gather Round is a bit annoying.

Understand it’s a non-starter but imagine how good it would look to tourists if all the parklands clubs (Blackfriars, Uni, PAOC, CBCOC, Pulteney OS, Lutheran and Old Ignatians played home that week.

Truly look like a city consumed by footy

Not quite Dutchy. U16 didn’t play this year nor did Men & Women other than the State Game. U18 probably played due to getting close to finalising the State U18 squad plus for coaches and officials from intestate all in town and the chance to do some scouting. Surprised that they don’t do the same next year but you would know more than me.

Clubs were asked to vote on options, have not heard anything since.. dare say it’ll be voted on at the delegates meeting - is that November?

Probably won’t know until early next year.

AGM 2nd of December, but the mail is Round 1 being 5th April is all but confirmed..

5th April - Round 1
12th April - Gather Round bye
19th April - Easter bye
16th April - Round 2

I assume there will be provisions made for those clubs that want to play Round 2 on the 25th for Anzac Day. Obviously a rhetorical question but i think those games are great for the communities that they are played in. Is that something that Ingle Farm would do, i know we are keen.

You need to get lucky and hope your opponent that round is keen to play on the day

Pretty much what I was going to say haha! We will explore it next year when the fixture comes out, but really depends who we are playing, where we are playing, and if they're interested.

Given it's Round 2, may provide some headaches on timeframes to be organised.

Sounds like a problem for Q1 2025.

since Anzac Day is on Friday, could the league fixture the Grand Finalists from the previous year at the home club of the Premiers?

June LW BYE as per usual

This will also mean D1 GF will be played on same day as D2 to D6 GFs. That being 20 September.
