Absolutely, but being thick isn't an excuse.
This is just another look at how the world has changed and how what's acceptable has changed. Like it or not it has and standards will always evolve and older generations like us will struggle to accept it. It's happened forever and will keep happening forever.

If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Couldn’t agree more, wouldn’t happen anywhere else.
Speaking of thick …
in the far away land of the US of A, the Presidential candidate of one of the major political parties has the blessing of their party after being convicted of sexual assault and at last count, a total of 26 women have accused the candidate of the same.

I got in trouble for turning up as Mick Jagger.

We’re having a crack at people dressing up and we’re talking to strangers on the internet pretending to be beers and cars and ex cricketers
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

I tend to agree with your point of view on this one (especially that going back to my teenage years it was to far in the other direction with things such as racism and violence happily accepted, it was horrible and disgusting in hindsight) ........but genuine question where is the line do you believe. Like would you go to a comedy show and if the comedian made a P-Diddy joke would you be walking out or do you believe that should be deemed unacceptable in today's society, or you wouldnt go to a show if that was potentially the material.
Now the obvious answer is footballers arent comedians and they are paid shit loads to be footballers and represent their clubs.
I guess comedy is always about appealing to the audience in front of you.......... footballers have to understand if there is one person present who is not a direct football team mate then the audience is the general public and that the general public will look and will be offended by anything and everything if given the chance.

Probably for another thread on here but my Pop wore a hat and tie every time he left the house up until his passing in the early 80's.

An irrelevant post
There are posters that come onto to a AFL thread to read about subject matter
Its why we have the thread heading AFL 2024

It wasnt an official AFL or Club sanctioned event, it was a private show
The Club season was over as such, not sure that they can bring the game into disrepute if their season is over
The whole situation is a joke, the boys did the right thing, hired a private venue, had a session with antics amongst themselves, had a laugh, went home
If it's being treated as such by the AFL where is the players association coming to assist their players
Seems to me there are rules for some and not for others
And the complaint came because they watched it back on the cctv

Correct, massive overreach.
Get the laws of the game in order.
As someone else said, where does the players association sit with this?
Greene cops $20k for lack of leadership is just bs!
He's not the players mum and neither is the AFL.

If there was a successful appeal, his conviction would have been quashed, so if that is the case - I haven't followed this - then it would be misleading to refer to him as having been convicted.

At the end of the day it's a bunch of blokes trying to outdo each other in dress ups.
There's no political agenda or statement making just idiots playing dress up.
Move on, there's much more in the world to be worried about.

The more I read this thread the more I'm leaning towards the right actions have taken place, I like a bit of a joke as much as the next bloke but it sounds as though some of the costume selections were just simply gross.
Behind closed doors or not, there is a level of decency that these guys should adhere to.

Just dressing up as Hayne or P Diddy may or may not be in poor taste. Subjective but not worthy of the outcry.
However, do we know what the "skits" actually entailed? What if they simulated sex acts in the light of the prior or current accusations against these two? What if they dropped their dacks to do them? What other characters were players dressed up as and what skits did they do?
