Depends what the truth is.....................black face P-Diddy and young girls. Nah probably should have thought that one through a fair bit more.
If its just Raygun dressup!!! come on now!!! They cant be serious about fines for that.
Dressing up ain’t my go too but what people do in private is their business
Is it private if you're in a venue where there are members of the public eg staff.
If they wanted full privacy it needed to be done at a players house.

It’s not an illegal bikie party It’s a social gathering in a private hired venue I might be old school but how anyone could possibly be offended is beyond me
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

It wasn’t a work Xmas show though Are these so called mad Monday events official club events?
It's their end of season / year break up, call it whatever you like the fact remains.
Your work show might be in a private room at a pub, you might all dress up like idiots, if one of you comes* as Diddy with a blow up doll you'll get in the shit.
Booney wrote:How many of you would get away with dressing up as an alleged rapist at your work Xmas show?
Alleged being the operative word.. what if i just wanted to dress up as an R'n'B sensation?
You'll still need to speak to HR and you know it.
The AFL have a moment of unity when they stand against violence against women as we all should and I'm sure the upstanding members* of this forum uphold those values, least I sure hope we all do. To have some lads running around pretending to be an alleged rapist isn't funny and shouldn't be tolerated.
There's simply no context or forum where rape can be laughed at.
It's true whilst the average joe blow in the street is unlikely to get this level of sanction if they did this at the annual Christmas party but there would be questions asked and not the media scrutiny (potentially - however if they were from Hackney High or Kent Town Tech that might change, hi Jimmy )
However these blokes earn over 4 times the annual Australian salary to not do stupid sh!t like this.
If they don't like the scrutiny if they want to do stupid sh!t, go play SANFL/WAFL/Local footy for less than $10K a year not AFL on $450K a year...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Couple this with the education they get on racism, homophobia etc etc they deserve everything the get. Hello Walker, Finlayson etc.
a couple of years ago we did Silly Sunday and the theme was 'news stories in the last 30 years' or something along them lines.
We have two twins who are over 6ft play ruckmen and centre half forward. They got refrigerator boxes and placed them over their heads and went as the twin towers. Off course the day was spent with blokes tackling them over to bring down the towers.
No one thought anything of it but geez that wouldnt last two seconds at AFL level these days.

C’mon mate you’re drawing a long bow now NO ONE is laughing at rape here and I wouldn’t have thought the GWS players were either
They’re young and dumb and will learn from it. We can’t keep hanging people when they make mistakes or an error in judgement
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
I've been to a few fancy dress parties over the years, and a couple of times I was half tempted to do something "funny" and goes as something that might cross the line.
Whilst it may be initially humourous, common sense got the better of me as at some point, this would be in the public sector, private venue or not. And I'm just some pleb who's footy career peaked at 20!

So they dressed up and performed skits with a blow up doll for educational purposes?
Not saying anyone here is, by the way.
I hear what you’re saying but the players wouldn’t have thought about this while acting up They should be called out for their behaviour by the club but not publicly humiliated or fined for it Isn’t this a better way to educate young men?

That's why they are under far more scrutiny because of the amount of education they receive.

Yes they’re slow learners No one said footballers were smart
