Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: 2024 AFL Silly Season
I don't really follow the trade stuff, normally just wait til its over and look at what actually happened, rather than all the speculation, of which 90% seems to not happen.
But if Atkinson is moving, is this a salary cap manoeuvre more so than getting the actual player?
Ie: Say GC didn't want to give up 13, but will do so if they can also offload Atkinson's 5th year contract, and Port have cap space so happy to take it on for 1 year in order to get pick 13 as part of the Houston out, Jack L in deal?
(No idea, just guessing, as it seems very strange that Port would otherwise look at Rory).

Re: 2024 AFL Silly Season
From memory, he wasn't on big dollars, just a long deal. I have no idea how he would be of any value, unless as stated earlier the Pear are going all out to win a SANFL flag

Re: 2024 AFL Silly Season
It's a salary dump, we have plenty of cap space. He's on 400k for his last year which would be well below average wage now. He won't (i hope) play AFL, strengthens the ressies so meh. If it's given us an extra pick by taking his salary then so be it

Says a lot about how F***ed up the Australian football system is when Rory Atkins' salary is greater than the SANFL salary capbertiebeatle1 wrote:It's a salary dump, we have plenty of cap space. Makes it even stranger that the suns feel the need to dump the salary if it’s as low as $400k.
Oh and apparently we are the ones giving up 13, not getting 13. Shows how closely I follow this stuff.
Seems strange that we’d be giving up a first round pick and a two time AA, to get in a bloke the suns told to explore his option AND taking on a salary dump.
Perhaps this Richards bloke I’ve never heard of is better than I realised.

All part of Kenny's "now" strategy, hard to see that if they had a new coach they would be executing stuff like this.bertiebeatle1 wrote:It's a salary dump, we have plenty of cap space. Exactly. It’s purely a salary dump and allows Lukosius to be traded in for lessbertiebeatle1 wrote:It's a salary dump, we have plenty of cap space. Lol, it probably means both Narkle & Evans both get cut, it’s a 1 yr deal that isn’t costing us anything. The over dramatising everywhere is ridiculousDutchy wrote:All part of Kenny's "now" strategy, hard to see that if they had a new coach they would be executing stuff like this.bertiebeatle1 wrote:It's a salary dump, we have plenty of cap space. . If it’s helped us with the trade by absorbing his salary then great

Just reading his daily article, mentions it sits with port who might be looking for another late pick (neither here or there for me)Armchair expert wrote:

Re: 2024 AFL Silly Season
Pies have been reamed if that is the final deal imo
Richards for 58 fair enough
Houston for next years first heavily academy rorted draft good deal but add Noble who they wanted a good pick for and pick 36 in a good draft then its overs

Holding someone on your list who is more than likely not going to play AFL or give that spot to a kid with potential to play 200+ games.bertiebeatle1 wrote:Lol, it probably means both Narkle & Evans both get cut, it’s a 1 yr deal that isn’t costing us anything. Tell me that isn't a "now" decision....
Port can do what they want, but we can also call it for what it is.

Him and 58, we lose Noble and Richards and future first rounder.
Not sure we come out of that deal so well.
