THey should be able to wrap it all up in 5 days. Bloody ridiculous how drawn out this is. All about keeping eyeballs on the AFL.

On the same token I found it ridiculous when they were listing off the Panther premiership players that are leaving, how do they not wait til seasons end for negotiations, what happens if you're playing against your new club in the GF?

Yeah, that whole scenario makes no sense to me. Why are they losing so many star players due to salary cap. Surely something could be worked out to keep some.

NRL is a completely different setup.
Players can sign for other clubs in advance and sometimes it’s one or two years in advance and both the clubs and players are mature enough to see out the contracts and put in 100%.
I know at Parramatta we have had players that before the season even starts they have signed somewhere else the following year but they still get picked every week and they still perform to the best of the ability right up until the contract ends.
In the Panthers case they have the best and biggest junior setup in the land to pull from and they have already picked up Talagi off us so will be in an awesome position again next year

Pretty sure you can negotiate from the November before your contract expires, so if you're up in 2025, you can negotiate with other clubs from next month.

The Panthers have lost 13 premiership players to other NRL teams over the last 4 years, 14 if you include Momorovski who's in the Super League now. As Jimbo said, the player development at Penrith is light years ahead of everyone else, we lost players like Katao at the Dolphins before they've barely played first grade.

Of the 3 we lose this year, Talagi will get first crack at Luai's spot, we have Lindsey Smith & Liam Henry to take JFH's front row possie, and one of the McLean boys on the wing will actually be an upgrade over Turuva, Plus, Papalii joins to add more back row depth which means we could run the marble statue Sorenson off the bench for maximum impact

Surely the Crows will be chucking him a farewell party? This will do the job for them.

Did the Pies not learn the first time that former player managers have no idea how to run a footy club?

Crows will chuck in a 4th rounder to sweeten the deal...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Possibly.

Up there for silliness would be North Melbourne signing Jack Darling and Richmond giving Balta a 7 year extension.

Sydney asking North for a 2nd round pick for Parker says hello.

Some movement today :

Carlton trade its 2025 Round 1 selection and 2025 Round 2 selection (tied to Carlton) to Hawthorn for its 2024 Round 1 selection (currently 14) in the 2024 and 2025 Telstra AFL Drafts respectively.

Carlton trade its 2024 Round 2 selection (currently 34) and 2024 Round 4 selection (currently 66) to Brisbane for its 2024 Round 4 selection (currently 73) and 2025 Round 2 selection in the 2024 and 2025 Telstra AFL Drafts respectively.

Brisbane trade its 2024 Round 1 selection (currently 20) to Richmond for two 2024 Round 2 selections (currently 32 and 42) and two 2024 Round 3 selections (currently 43 and 45) in the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft.

1) Assuming he's happy to go to North
2) It's the best deal for us
3) We've clearly got our eye on someone in this year's draft

He hasn't ruled us out and has met with Clarko

You could mount a case that we have a better medium/long term future than Carlton & Collingwood

Oh I do love your enthusiasm for the kangas but you blokes are a long long way off it.
Which makes your statement one of hope rather than fact.

I agree with Dutchy, Roos are alot closer to their next flag than Carlton or Collingwood. Carlton are too selfish and top heavy in salary, bottom 6 or 8 are not up to it, Pies are just too old. Roos will play finals in 2026 or 27
It truly is going to be beautiful to watch Collingwood become a basket case and it wont be for a couple seasons it will be for the next 15 years. This current plan of topping up is going to come horribly undone at the wrong time with Tasmania coming in.
