The thing to remember is the non-sitting party spend 2+ years openly canvassing, vetting & getting approvals for candidates for the next election.Brodlach wrote:Not sure if you heard him on the radio but he said they don’t currently have a candidate and are looking for one but have a couple in mind.Jimmy_041 wrote:Maybe they have - their bad - they should have told youBooney wrote:This is the SA libs you're talking about.Brodlach wrote:Tarzia on radio today saying they hope to have Speirs replacement done sometime this week, Mali getting it done today.
Surely they knew this was coming so should have been prepared
Of course, if they had done it openly they would have been criticised for that
I think we all knew he wasn’t either going on or continuing with the Libs (going independent)
In this case, Labor already had one as Dighton went up against Speirs last election
You cant do it where you have an incumbent - especially the Leader.
The fact that they can name one this week says they were already well down the path
Thinking Mali got off his arse today and got one is laughable - sucked in.

Re: The South Australian Political Landscape
lol, I didn’t think he got one today, my point is they are organized and the actual party that caused this isn’t.
You don’t think the Libs expected him to leave the party after being boned?
Your blind faith in the Libs is staggering, especially for a seemingly well educated person

But, at least, I can comprehend when someone gives an explanation of the process of all political parties
Labor are "organised" because they had someone sitting there from the last election. The thing to remember is the non-sitting party spend 2+ years openly canvassing, vetting & getting approvals for candidates for the next election. In this case, Labor already had one as Dighton went up against Speirs last election
You cant do it where you have an incumbent - especially the Leader.
The fact that they can name one this week says they were already well down the path
The Liberals have had to find someone - vet them and get them approved.
That has happened in 8 weeks which is fast tracking it especially considering they had to find someone (Labor didn't have to) vet them (Labor didn't have to) do it on the quiet up to last week whilst he was still the sitting Liberal member (Labor didn't have to)
If you cant see the difference then there's not much else I can explain

Come on mate. The video of Spiers doing lines then the deep fake denials followed by the mental health sabbatical in the country side with the radio interviews threatening to quit if Tarzia was elected leader or the manifesto on In Daily was hardly enough to suggest he'd not be running in the next election.Brodlach wrote:They have had 6 weeks to do it, I can’t explain it any more easily

Re: The South Australian Political Landscape
They didn't have to publicly mate, they could be ready to go without having told the world.
That made me laugh, the premise they'd do something without someone spilling it to the 'Tiser.

They can’t run their own party how can they be trusted to run the State.

Hey Broady we know you're a bit unhappy ATM and some sh!t has gone down that has got a bit of media exposure in the "Tiser. We dont know what you're going to do, so we've selected this bloke called Booney to take over your job. No dramas or hard feelings hey?Brodlach wrote:You are kidding surelyam Bays wrote:Could just imagination the headlinesBooney wrote:Come on mate. Even Richo and the NSW ALP Right would stand and applaud if the SA libs preselected someone for a seat behind the back of an incumbent
But yeah, I agree with the view, if you cant govern yourselves you can given the state

Or
Hey Booney
In the event that David doesn’t continue, would you be interested? Just thinking ahead
We’ll start all the checks but just keep it quiet as it may not occur
If this doesn’t happen we can look at you for the next election

Hey Hey wait a minute here! There's no way I'm being thrown in as some lamb to the by-election slaughter.
I'll wait for a safe seat* to come up.
( No such thing )

Libs expected to announce on the weekend their candidate for the Black by election, either Holdfast Bay Mayor Amanda Wilson or Marion councillor Jana Mates.

Nothing changes, still giving out jobs to mates rather than the best candidate.

In a surprise, to me at least, they have chosen Amanda Wilson who neither lives in the electorate or was a member of the party.
She has been a regular on ABC radio regarding the Jetty Road redevelopment which seems quite unpopular with the ratepayers.
