Dillon's hosting style gave us a sneak peek into what it will be like when robots host the night.

Well deserved winner!
Cripps size and strength makes him almost the perfect player.
I watched every Blues games this year and he dominated in almost every game.

Now to add premiership captain to his CV next year.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

I thought he was a contracted player? He can't leave the blues

Heeney:

Votes before suspension - 22 in 17 games

Votes after suspension - 6 in 6 games ( BOG last 2 games with 32 and 1 and 33 and 2 )

It's almost, I dunno, like the umpires knew he couldn't win so didn't give him votes.

This is not the most prestigious award.

I double looked at your post because his wife (Jules) is pregnant at the moment and was wearing a brown dress last night then noticed that photo is from last year haha.

I've thought the Leigh Matthews Trophy was more prestigious for a little while now, last night just confirmed everything.

Was getting rolling updates from one of my kids about players getting votes for doing nothing, and players getting robbed blind

Yep very deserving winner.
Nick will win one sometime?
The normal eye popping wtf moments with some votes.
Nick getting one vote for playing half a game. How do four blokes get this so wrong.
That's an oops moment. Should've been J Daicos.
But hey they can't get obvious decisions right how are they supposed to get this right.
My take, only one umpire casts votes in future.

Some umpires love doing the votes and get right into it, others not so much.

I was always a bit meh, umpired with a few dickheads that continually made a mess of them, I just wouldn't sign off if I didn't agree.

I would've thought at that level though you'd make your selections separately, then watch the replay the following day individually and then do a teams link up to discuss each others votes and come to a compromise, they have everything at their disposal to get it right.

Bont vs GC, 32 disposals, 3 tackles, 11 clearances and two goals: SFA.

If I was an umpire I'd take a mental note at the end of each quarter who was the fairest and best for that quarter.
Do that for four quarters, even write the names down if needed.
I still think we're making it too hard. Four blokes studying stats and videos.
These guys are not full time.
Just one cast votes and be done with it

How did the umpires get it wrong if the bookie’s favourite won?
Umpires were spot on.
Cripps was the best and fairest of 2024

A lot write down their top 5 at each quarter time break (at community level).

These guys are full time umpires, they don't have day jobs.
