Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Hearing from multiple sources that the 5 northern clubs are looking at breaking away and forming a league of their own with the addition of two teams from two different leagues who have expressed interest….. interesting times ahead.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Wouldn’t be surprised if one is a NEFL club especially if the rumours of all grand finals at Clare oval is true. It’s not BSR.Lightning McQueen wrote:Bute & Freeling?happyhawk wrote:Hearing from multiple sources that the 5 northern clubs are looking at breaking away and forming a league of their own with the addition of two teams from two different leagues who have expressed interest….. interesting times ahead.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
There is no missing 'moula' from Angle Vale - the treasurer is a ball breaker.
No sure where this info is coming from, however top three guesses would be
1. The coach that was there 3+ years and is butt hurt his previous 2 clubs made grand finals after being cellar dwellers when he ran the show and his wife was a paid canteen worker
2. Some moron who is listening to bullshit being peddled by another moron.
3. Some buffoon who doesn't understand that running a club comes with financial obligations to councils etc who are happy to take 20+ plus from non profits to use sub-standard facilities.
Do expect that they will go down the gurgler next year with the current execs (except one) stepping down. There is a reason why no one (head coaches included) are staying when they all know who will be taking over.

Why would everyone leave instead of intercepting the takeover if they know it will turn to shit?

They seemed very well place to have a bit of a dominant period in the APFL, powerhouse juniors, great depth and seemed like they were building somethingBudsCat wrote:There is no missing 'moula' from Angle Vale - the treasurer is a ball breaker.

The longer I live the more I hear about the APFL disbanding, kind of hard for the likes of United & Hamley to compete against the suburbs of Angle Vale, Two Wells and Virginia.Burner wrote:They seemed very well place to have a bit of a dominant period in the APFL, powerhouse juniors, great depth and seemed like they were building somethingBudsCat wrote:There is no missing 'moula' from Angle Vale - the treasurer is a ball breaker.

It's a credit to the smaller towns for still managing to produce junior teams considering the populations, the junior tables pretty much go by population and the growth for the 3 clubs I listed will be huge over the next 10 years.

Personally I have no real interest in the above other than the bolded point about the Council taking funds from the club.BudsCat wrote:There is no missing 'moula' from Angle Vale - the treasurer is a ball breaker.

I can't get my head around this as clubs in the Wakefield Council area (Balaklava, HWE, Hamley + BSR & Blyth-Snowtown) have a grounds lease with Council and the clubs are responsible with insuring and maintaining their assets.
The grounds lease doesn't typically cost anything but then the financial responsibility of maintaining, mowing, marking and most repairs/upgrades etc all falls back on the clubs.
Conversely, it seems Councils are a LOT more involved with the maintenance of ovals and clubs in Playford (Virginia/Angle Vale) and Adelaide Plains (Two Wells/Mallala). Not exactly sure what happens at Long Plains, they always seem highly involved with their oval maintenance etc.
What do clubs get out of their agreements with Councils in exchange for the fees?

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Clubs are charged almost 1500 a month and all that gets them is the grass mowed and watered. They also have to pay in the off season when they cant use the facilities as it being used by cricket clubs. Add on that electricity for the oval lights, a per member charge and it comes close to the 20k for the year before you start to think about affiliation/association costs.OnSong wrote:Personally I have no real interest in the above other than the bolded point about the Council taking funds from the club.BudsCat wrote:There is no missing 'moula' from Angle Vale - the treasurer is a ball breaker.
