Kid from Angle Vale in a coma after an incident in a grand final vs Two Wells yesterday. Was flown to hospital by helicopter. Article in the Advertiser is pretty vague on details. Doesn't mention whether it was a junior or senior game. Various accusations flying around about how it happened.

Incredibly disappointing. I sincerely hope that Henry is OK. Horrible to hear this happen to a kid.

Incredibly disappointing in that it was a malicious act or disappointing to see an injury of that significance.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
I opted to go to the Whyalla grand final on Saturday so wasn’t at the ground but from what I’ve heard the incident leading to the airlifting wasn’t linked to an act of violence but a delayed response to a head knock in a contest.Armchair expert wrote:Adelaide Now saying an alleged king hitwhufc wrote:Incredibly disappointing in that it was a malicious act or disappointing to see an injury of that significance.
There’s varying responses out there at the moment so make of that what you will. I read this comment on the Advertiser link which seems to capture the essence of what took place:
“The kid was not king hit and it was not after play. There was a contest for the ball up in the air where the kids (at least 5-6) punched the ball away. He recieved a knock to the cheek. He walked himself off the field with no help from any trainers, went to the first aid tent and then had a sezuire whilst waiting for an ambulance. News reporting on this incident is disgusting. They didnt mentioned the kid they interviewed on channel 9 was the one that received a yellow and red card for fighting in the last few minutes of the game. But that doesn't make a story interesting.”
But Angle Vale has released a club statement querying the APFL about why violence in junior sport is allowed to continue and the matter is being followed up by SAPOL.
Was the game streamed? Any footage from the day is unavailable publicly.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
SA Police said on Sunday afternoon it had investigated the incident.
“Police have liaised with match officials and both clubs involved in yesterday’s incident,’’ police said.
“We have reviewed CCTV and video filmed during the game and have established that no criminal offences have occurred.’’
Adelaide Plains Football League president Michael Vigor said the league was investigating whether Mr Nau was intentionally or accidentally hit, however he has clarified that he was not king hit.
“Our concerns are with the player and hope he makes a full recovery. We hope the best outcomes can be achieved,” Mr Vigor told The Advertiser.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this moment.”
Mr Vigor said Nau was attempting to catch the football from the air, when he sustained an injury to the head from an incident late in the first quarter.
He also clarified that Nau was not involved in any physical altercation with other players, during or after the match against Two Wells Football Club.
The league’s MRO — Football Operations Coordinator — has commenced their investigation into the incident and the findings are yet to be determined.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
There was plenty of mayo chucked on by the media following the nine news report with the interviews, there was even implications that one of the Two Wells interviewees was the one that "king hit" the injured player (one is over 20 years old and the other is generally one of the quietest fairest lads you'll meet).

What did you think of the club statement seeking answers on how careless acts of violence are "continuously allowed in to occur in junior football"?Lightning McQueen wrote:There was plenty of mayo chucked on by the media following the nine news report with the interviews, there was even implications that one of the Two Wells interviewees was the one that "king hit" the injured player (one is over 20 years old and the other is generally one of the quietest fairest lads you'll meet).
Really interesting to raise that topic, rightly or wrongly, in the same post as the incident that was not related to any careless act of violence.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
I think that was an impulsive reaction feeling as though they needed to post something on the matter. There was a hell of a lot of innuendo going on from both camps along with many neutral's who had to formulate opinions with no knowledge of what occurred.OnSong wrote:What did you think of the club statement seeking answers on how careless acts of violence are "continuously allowed in to occur in junior football"?Lightning McQueen wrote:There was plenty of mayo chucked on by the media following the nine news report with the interviews, there was even implications that one of the Two Wells interviewees was the one that "king hit" the injured player (one is over 20 years old and the other is generally one of the quietest fairest lads you'll meet).

Being a GF I'm sure the emotions were a lot higher than usual, I've umpired this age group and these teams many times, the stakes are always high.

Yes, there was an altercation in the change rooms after the game, allegedly not an AV player or official though.Nighthawk wrote:something happen in the rooms after the colts? An altercaition in the showers?

Might just fuel clubs like Balak & Hummocks to look at a move sooner rather than later especially if they get caught up in all 'innuendo' getting around.
