At the halfway stage of the season it's a good time for Doggie fans to take stock on the impact of the 2024 recruits.
Six of the 8 played in our win against the Eags. Barry and Dittmar have played every game whilst Pudney and Gasper missed just the one each. Howe is currently leading the ruck and Posthuma played his 3rd game on the weekend.
Monaghan played just one league game where he picked up an injury (due to return after the bye) and Callinan is honing his all round game and will no doubt add to his 3 games before the seasons out.

None of this group are outright stars (ala Ballenden, Snelling or Boyd), but they have proven to be perfect fits into the game style that the coaches are putting together. Reckon we can be pretty happy with the Class of 24.

Hately won Essendon’s VFL B&F.
Chance to return to Elizabeth next year?

Didn't he choose to be in Melbourne as his missus works there

Will not be returning.
However there is a strong chance Shay Linke will return.

I thought it'd be tough get Hately back next year given the reasons he went to Essendon's vfl team in the 1st place. It'd be good to get Linke back. We have virtual recruits in Ethan East, Mihail Lochowiak and Billy McCormick due back from injury next year.

And a full season with Dyson Sharp.
(BTW Mihail looks like a beast, really strengthened himself up. Wish him well)

Not really a full season when you take away Academy and State commitments, but should play 12-14 games

Rumours already are that Big Billy might leave.

Disappointing if Billy leaves but it happens. I'm sure the club would be on the hunt for a ruckman. I don't think Howe is ready to be number 1 ruck for a full season

And at every club.

Players make lifestyle decisions in lieu of the demands of SANFL footy
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

This is the big one. Players are expected to train/prepare like AFL players, but they hold down full time jobs at the same time. Something has to to give.

us having hopefully a long run in finals will be good in getting new recruits.

Only for the new recruits to potentially given to either the crows or the power,

"A 12-person SANFL working group will in the next month finalise the concessions that Port and Adelaide will be offered before it is ratified by the SA Football Commission.
The group includes SANFL chief executive Darren Chandler, executive general manager football Matthew Duldig, SA Football Commissioners and three club CEO’s – Sturt’s Sue Dewing, North Adelaide’s Craig Burton and Central District’s Greg Edwards."

Would Central supporters be happy if Port or the crows rolled up to the club & took Dittmar next year? Or Sharpe?
Should our CEO be on a panel/working group that is there to assist in making rival clubs stronger??
Is this a conflict of interest?
This still includes the mid-season draft!!

Wouldn't the CEO be in the best position possible to oppose the concessions going too far?

Going too far? Why would they approve any further concessions anyway?? Port have played in 3 grand finals, whilst we've played in none. If our CEO wants to strengthen the crows and port he probably should go.
