Re: SANFL Junior codes
We entered a 14s girls side this year, and I found Danielle to be very helpful and supportive over the whole season - obviously we don't have Henley in our div, and don't play in a high division so perhaps it's easier.. but must say the comms from SANFL Jnrs staff this year has been a massive improvement.

Yeah, for sure, you can only call it how you see it.
On another note, you had a hot blonde on the bbq yesterday. She was an U15 mum. Might have to become a Rowe Park groupie next season!

You don't coach the son's team, do you? Looks like a B&F coming up for him then!

Re: SANFL Junior codes
Good to see they've still got a sense of humour at Henley HQ.
Glenunga U18 Girls are 'hosting' a semi-final at Golden Grove and the Glenunga U15 Boys are 'hosting' a semi-final at SMOSH!
No other Club with 2 'home' teams have to host away from their home ground.

@Bedge I see your U15 Boys should be hosting a final but are playing at Brighton instead.
Was that a Club decision not to host?

Re: SANFL Junior codes
As per last two years of SANFL Jnrs, they look to maximise opportunities for highest ranked clubs, and host both matches of their competition.
Same happened weekend just gone with U14 Ingle Farm hosting Golden Grove vs Glenunga (we also hosted D1 Gepps Cross vs Henley), and Houghton hosting Edwardstown vs North Haven in the 15's
Brighton as the highest ranked side gets to host both finals this weekend.
I don't mind it, chance to watch the other game in your comp doesn't happen often, and like we saw at Ingle Farm Sunday, makes for a cracking day as a lot of oppo stick around for a beer and have a watch.

Yeah, makes sense, to a degree. Doesn't explain why the Glenunga U18 Girls D1 are travelling to Golden Grove, though, when the highest ranked team in that Div was TTG. Should still be some reward for finishing higher than your opponent, but having to play at a neutral venue. Can't even claim the dark shorts advantage, as the girls don't wear white for away games!

I don't mind the games being played back to back as agree its good for all 4 teams to play inside 3 and a bit hours at the same venue. Only minor irritation is Blackwood u17.5's having to go to Modbury to play Golden Grove
Not sure why its not done in the first week of finals though.

The problem is, Bedge, that it doesn't happen consistently across all grades. There are only a few select Clubs affected by this. If I've done my homework correctly, the only Grades the 'same-grade finals' have occurred in this weekend are:
U17 Boys Div 2
U16 Girls Div 3
U16 Boys Div 3
U16 Boys Div 2
U15 Boys Div 4
U15 Boys Div 2
U15 Boys Div 1
That's less than half the divisions that will be playing the relevant finals this weekend.
I do understand that the Rules & Regulations stipulate that the SANFL Juniors Competition Management determines where all finals matches are played, but some transparency and consistency should be forthcoming.

Re: SANFL Junior codes
I'm not SANFL Juniors haha, I don't have all the answers - but ground availability / timing perhaps could be a reason i.e. if the U15 finals are locked into a ground, then the 12s / 13s / 14s have to find another ground?

Re: SANFL Junior codes
It would be a nightmare to arrange from an oval availability perspective, so hard to be critical, especially with a few clubs hosting games outside of SANFLJ

Some 'clarity' from Henley HQ.....
All games outside of first place on the ladder (team that had the bye in first week of finals) are being played on neutral grounds.
Only top place on the ladder have home finals this weekend.
There are at least 6 teams hosting their final this weekend that did NOT finish top.

Re: SANFL Junior codes
When pressed on the allocation of home ground finals by the Advertiser's Dan Renfrey, Henley's Danielle Robran politely referred him to the Henley Handbook:
8.5.1 All finals matches shall be played at such grounds as determined by the Henley Match Committee.
8.5.1 All finals matches shall be played at such grounds as determined by the Henley Match Committee.
