Re: Drugs, umps and other ammo's news
People might remember last year or thereabouts The Advertiser ran the same "investigation" at Parliament House. Probably had some leftover wipes. The naming of clubs is just a clickbait technique to try and draw in more subscribers, they keep stats on what kind of articles bring in subscribers. I don't necessarily have a problem with them writing articles about how prevalent cocaine is but naming clubs is about improving revenue. No idea how accurate these wipes are either.
It's curious that they named the 4 clubs which tested positive and not the three that were clean.
I've had a well publicized brush with the law because of cocaine that Gepps Cross spectators take pleasure in reminding me about every time we play. After having two players caught selling drugs and now this I wonder if they have learned their lesson.
I do feel sorry for Gaza though. They play in the right spirit and have done really well this year. Don't need this crap kicking them when they're down.

It’s not just Gaza, any club who gets named (I do get what you are trying to say).
In the terms of clubs that were clean, by naming them you can just give a gold star to the people cleaning the facility. I’m more perplexed on why they specifically targeted local footy clubs. What stops them doing it to footy, netball, soccer, rugby clubs and publicising the article without naming the locations? Click bait too far here and they deserve every bit of backlash they get over this.

Der!
Swab any club, in any sport, up to and including bowls and bocce in Adelaide and you'll get a positive result.
Obviously everything is running smoothly in ammo land so the media have to drag you through some mud again.
No need to name the clubs.
Media standards fall another rung.

Biggest audience for their click bait.
One of our marketing gurus at work previously was at the Advertiser and apparently those 'top 50 footballers posts' are the in the Advertisers highest bracket for post engagement. Apparently, each year the increased subscriptions they receive generated from the top footballers page is incredible. People looking to see if their name is in there.

Someone should go swab the toilets in the Advertiser building.

A bit in this. Knock on wood the League has avoided any significant instances of violence, vilification and salary cap issues and even the Gaza/Elizabeth situations have become less dire than they first appeared.
Know footy stories get clicks and this is the lowest common denominator in it.

Well played sir! You're about as popular as Jakob Matheson.

Re: Drugs, umps and other ammo's news
I cancelled my digital subscription with the advertiser as a result of this.
Between this article and the trash that Dan Renfrey writes, it tipped me over the edge. These articles are just the tip of the ice berg in terms of how many terrible articles are published by the advertiser.
I found it amusing when they asked me if I’d like to change my subscription to The Australian instead. Righto….

There was another story I read earlier this week of Sharks testing positive to cocaine in Brazil, but I believe these were actual sharks, not Henley Sharks.

Ha ha this is so true. Some of the stories they write about court proceedings are downright inflammatory and misleading.
I only read it with the work subscription cause I’m famous and like showing mum.
