That's now only 1 of the last 11 games where we have kicked more goals than points, a seriously worrying trend in a tight comp

Good game to watch, thought Glenelg were going to run over us in the last. Pretty disappointing crowd for a big game but a good win to round out key victories against three top 5 teams over the last 6 games with key players still to return from injury.

On top of that I don't remember the weather being feral in either year. 1979 is the only GF I can remember it bucketed down.

1992 anyone?

1970 was the worst weather it started raining at about 4:30 a.m. and never stopped until the Saturday evening.
1989 similar to 1979 was a typical spring, horrible day. This is no excuse for North's pitiful effort, but Port won the toss and kicked with a strong, hot Northerly wind. At quarter time the change blew in and Port kicked with a strong south westerly. North kicked with it in the third quarter when it rained and the Port came home with it.
1974 was similar in that Sturt kicked with a strong breeze in the first quarter, Glenelg were hampered by showers of rain in the second quarter and the breeze gradually faded until there was no real advantage in the last quarter.

3 goals to one up in the 1st qtr until the rain came then it all turned to shit!

Glad the President took it well in front of the playing group back at the Grand...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
