This might make more sense now with reports the crows are still into Clayton Oliver
Would you take the risk with him?
I’m not sure I would

From what they said (Footy Classified so probably wrong) Melbourne would be paying a chunk of his salary still so if thats the case I would take the risk

Wouldn't touch him myself and if I was Adelaide I'd stay away. How do you think he'll go in the Adelaide fishbowl?

A reminder you are not only taking on the player and the dollars, but also a 6 year contract. He would be worth the risk if it was 2-3 years.

Did Collingwood get "out" of that deal when Melbourne on traded him?

It would also be worth the risk if Adelaide didn't have Dowling, Soligo, Berry and Taylor emerging with Rankine and Michalanney likely to spend more time in there. Massive risk.

Pretty sure the deal was between Grundy and Collingwood, not Grundy and Melbourne, and they're still liable.

Oliver reportedly on $1m/year (+/-) for 7 years through to 2030. So Adelaide would pick up a 6 year deal with you'd expect a price tag of around $700-750k per year assuming Melbourne are paying $250-300k per year and bring Oliver into a market that will see him face more external pressure and scrutiny than he ever has in Melbourne. Wow.
If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

Oliver would be under more media scrutiny in VFLcentric Melbourne. Coming to sleepy old Adelaide might do him the world of good.
