Re: Southern Football League
DAVID KEARSLEY – 300 A GRADE GAMES
This Saturday, 29 June 2024, David Kearsley, already our A Grade Games Record Holder, sets a new record for our club, becoming the first ever Flagstaff Hill Football Club player to reach 300 A Grade games.
Fittingly, our #12, is just the 12th player in Southern Football League (SFL) history to reach this milestone, joining Mark Anderson (Noar), Luke Berry (CB/PN), Steven Carlyle (Noar), Shane Fishlock (MV), Glenn Godfrey (Kang), Shane Hill (MV), Aaron Peterson (PN), Barry Pilmore (Noar), Ashley Sanders (Ald), Michael Schutz (Noar) and Michael Zaluski (MV).
Debuting at the age of 17, no one could have imagined the A Grade career Kears was going to forge; neither the longevity nor the success.
That day, Round 13 2006, playing Cove at Cove, saw the Falcons defeated by 127 points (Cove 28.21 def FHFC 10.2) and Kears concussed, and unable to play out the game (he would have kept playing but the coach at the time, Coxy, was ahead of his time as far as managing head knocks goes and would not allow him to return to the field).
Since that day, the son of FHFC Life Member Greg, has gone on to play 299 A Grade games for the Falcons and it is fair to say the fortunes of the team have changed significantly since then, with the 7 A Grade Premierships being only a small reflection on the impact Kears has had on our club and senior playing group.
A man that leads by example, both at training and during the game, Kears is not afraid to get his hands dirty nor demand the highest standards from his teammates. His list of achievements below highlight that not only has he played 299 A Grade games, but that they have been played at an elite level, and with no sign of his contribution to the team slowing down……..
299 A Grade Games - Most A Grade Games by a player at FHFC

We have said it before (as recently as his 400th Club game milestone in May) and will say it again; Kears is truly one of the best, if not THE BEST FALCON, we have, or ever will, see.
Congratulations Kears on this remarkable achievement. Plenty of highs and lows along the way, and most importantly you have never wavered from putting in the hard work to get to where you are and for what you’ve achieved. You should be incredibly proud of this achievement and your career; we definitely are!
We invite, and implore, all FHFC's Players and Supporters, Past & Present, to be at Flagstaff Hill on Saturday afternoon by 2.15pm, to give Kears the welcome he deserves as he steps onto the field and be there to support him throughout the afternoon. It promises to be a great afternoon with the A Garde not only playing for Kears, but being up against a premiership contender in Port Noarlunga – make some noise Red Army!
All the best Kears, from your Falcon Family.

Re: Southern Football League
Talk about a reality check for the May Premiers. Rolled by the Wineflies a couple of weeks ago, then absolutely humiliated on Saturday. The starting back pocket and half back flank combined to kick more goals than the hapless Divers did all game, who managed a paltry 1.0 for the entire second halfDivers wrote:4 wins on the hill today gr8 for the club but wtf with a's?

Noarlunga not playing great and Christies beach improving. Hard to pick the finals at this stage.

Re: Southern Football League
Top 3 are pretty much as expected, I reckon. Would have got huge odds for Noarlunga losing twice to Ironbank, and the Emus have fallen off a cliff after making finals last year. Christies have a got a few back lately and Valleys seem to be hanging in there.Happytowatchlocal wrote:Noarlunga not playing great and Christies beach improving. I reckon whoever finishes 4th and 5th are purely making up the numbers though.

Re: Southern Football League
The young Christies boys have been showing a lot more promise and fight compared to last year, last few games have been great to watch as they’re now starting to click together. This week vs ironbank will be a great game and will more than likely decide on how the rest of this year may look for them if a finals spot can be taken

Re: Southern Football League
The battle for top 5 will be interesting these last 6 weeks remaining. Might come down to last round results between Happy Valley / Christies / Noarlunga / Ironbank

Looks like the Saints didn't turn up, a close game there would have been fun for the neutrals.
